  • Publication number: 20110113832
Abstract: A washing machine contains a friction damper device for a washing unit comprising a tub, a washing drum which is rotationally mounted in the tub and a drive for the washing drum. The washing unit is supported in an elastic manner by at least one damper counter to a lower frame part of the housing. In order to prevent the vibratory behavior of the oscillating unit from being influenced above the rotational speed of the resonance, the friction in the damper above the rotational speed of the resonance can be reduced. As a result, at least one friction covering which interacts directly on a piston rod of the damper is pretensed by an energy store counter to the piston rod and can be displaced away from the piston rod by activating an actuator.

  • Publication number: 20100206014
Abstract: A washing machine includes a housing with a front panel defining a front opening, a tub defining a tub opening, and a drum in the tub rotatable on a rotation axis and defining a drum opening. The drum is connected to a motor defining a rotation direction. The tub opening and the drum opening define a gap enabling drum rotation while the motor is rotating the drum. The washing machine further includes a ring-shaped gasket providing a substantially waterproof seal between the front panel and the tub and including a front rim engaging the front opening, a rear rim engaging the tub opening, and a collar having a first end adjacent the rear rim and projecting radially inwardly beyond the gap to a second end. A collar thickness between the first end and the second end is not uniform around the gasket.

  • Patent number: 7583613
Abstract: The invention concerns a method, a network element and a computer program product for monitoring the quality of a real-time communication (9) in a packet network (1) comprising at least two test points (3, 4). A packet stream pattern (22) is accessed and injected at a first test point (3). After transmission of the packet stream pattern (22) through the packet network (1), a degraded packet stream pattern (23) is received at a second test point (4). Characteristics of the degraded packet stream pattern (23) are determined and compared with corresponding characteristics of the packet stream pattern (22) injected at the first test point (3). Based on the comparison, data concerning quality degradation caused by transmission over the packet network (1) is evaluated.

  • Publication number: 20080110042
Abstract: A method and a device for drying wet washing that has been placed in a drier device equipped with a rotatable drum. The stream of drying air is guided in such a way that the surface of the washing to be dried that is exposed to said stream is maximised. To achieve this, the invention provides a washing spacer, at least some sections of which are flexible and on which the washing to be dried can be placed. The spacer can then be rolled up together with the washing to be dried into a preferably cylindrical form. The washing spacer and the wet washing, which is rolled with a radial distance between its layers, is connected in an air-conductive, sealed manner to the extraction opening, allowing the stream of drying air to be guided through the washing spacer and the washing to be dried. Said method is extremely effective and reduces the drying times.

  • Patent number: 7299663
Abstract: The shaft axis of a detergent-solution pump in a washing machine is pivoted about a vertical such that, as seen in the forward direction, it forms an acute angle ? with a perpendicular center plane running from the front surface to the rear wall of the machine housing. The drain connector for the drain hose from the tub to the pump is oriented on the tub casing with an angular offset in the preferred spinning direction of rotation in relation to the vertical plane running through the drum axis. These measures give rise to better accessibility to the pump chamber and to improved pumping capacity, in particular for foam/water mixtures. The pump-out operation is shortened, and the overall height of the pump-out system can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7213348
Abstract: A burner for a gas dryer is made up of a mixing tube having an open end for admission of gas fuel into the mixing tube. At least one other opening proximate to the open end serves to admit air into the mixing tube for mixing the air and the gas fuel. A burner head is located at an end of the mixing tube opposite the open end for allowing a mix of gas fuel and air to be discharged and be ignited into a flame. A baffle is attached to the burner at the base of the burner head and extends radially outward therefrom to prevent disruption of combustion of the gas fuel and air mixture as a result of secondary air being drawn outside and along the length of the mixing tube from the open end thereof toward the burner head. An air heater assembly for gas dryer includes combustion chamber having an air inlet and an air outlet for allowing air to flow therethrough and be heated for being passed over clothes to be dried in a drum of a dryer.

  • Patent number: 6041290
Abstract: Digital filters are used to compensate for echoes in a transmission system in which unwanted couplings occur between a signal value in the receiving direction and a signal value in the transmitting direction. The correct adjustment of the filter coefficients has a considerable influence on the achievable echo compensation. Disturbance signals such as background noises, nonlinear effects in A/D converters or an active local speaker can briefly change the adjustment of the filter coefficients in a way so that the digital filter does not compensate for the echoes and causes additional echoes in unfavorable cases. In accordance with the invention a set of filter coefficients (C(j)) are weighted with an envelope curve (H(j)) and an error measurement (F(j)) is determined therefrom. Depending on the magnitude of the error measurement (F(j)), the filter coefficients (ci) are used for further processing or are discarded.

  • Patent number: 5499318
Abstract: A method and an apparatus provide safe access control without the need for supplementary devices. By entering audible words or sounds during a playing of a text of a recorded announcement, a first personal access code based on both the audible uttering and the timing of the audible uttering is generated and stored for authorized users. Subsequently, a second personal access code is generated in the same way when access is sought by a subsequent user seeking access to the facility. The second personal access code is compared with the first personal access code. If the codes correspond in both terms of the audible uttering and the timing of the audible uttering, access is permitted. High security is provided which prevents unauthorized use. The apparatus has a low cost and a low complexity, because no supplementary devices are necessary.

  • Patent number: 5483578
Abstract: A method of managing a speech memory (VMEM) and an assembly therefor are disclosed. To enable a plurality of users (U1, U2, U3, U4) to access the speech memory, the latter is divided into user memory areas (S1, S2, S3, S4) and a common memory area (SALL). By adding a portion (S4') of the common memory area (SALL) to one of the user memory areas (S4') or vice versa, the size of this user memory area is adapted to the memory space requirements (Min4) of the user (U4). The capacity of the speech memory (VMEM) is effectively utilized, since, as far as possible, no free memory space is assigned to the users (U1 to U4) which will not be used by them. The assembly can be used, for example, as a voice mailbox in a telecommunications system.

  • Patent number: 4943911
Abstract: A secondary computer is connected to a primary computer via a shared memory. The initial program loader for the secondary computer is stored in a mass memory of the primary computer rather than in a bootstrap memory. The primary computer loads the initial program loader into the shared memory, sends a restart instruction to a central processing unit of the secondary computer, and then controls a memory access logic circuit such that all program memory access instruction are routed to that portion of the shared memory holding the initial program loader until the secondary computer has read out the last instruction of the initial program loader. The central processing unit then sends to the memory access logic circuit an acknowledge signal which causes the latter to route all further program memory access instructions to a program memory of the secondary computer.
