  • Publication number: 20100043380
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for spinning staple fibres on ring-spinning machines, wherein a staple fibre composite is drawn in a drawing frame and, during exit from the drawing frame, is twisted to form a thread and is wound up by means of a traveler device. The fibre composite (F) which emerges from the drawing frame runs through a thread guide device (1) which has a twisting apparatus (10) which is equipped with a brake device (13, 13). The completely twisted thread (P) is guided over a spindle attachment (33) which is provided with grooves (32, 35), immediately after leaving the twisting apparatus (10). The method is carried out by way of an apparatus for spinning staple fibres on ring-spinning machines, which apparatus comprises a thread guide device which has a twisting element which is arranged at a spacing above the upper end of the ring spindle and is coupled to the ring spindle via a magnetic force field.

  • Patent number: 6877515
Abstract: Apparatus for making one or more rod-like fillers of shredded tobacco for use in the making of cigarettes or the like employs one or two pneumatic conveyors having endless foraminous belts trained over pulleys and including elongated stretches below communicating parts of a common suction chamber. A shower of intermixed tobacco shreds and smaller particles including tobacco dust and coarser particles is directed against the undersides of the elongated stretches. The shreds are attracted to and advance with the respective belts to form streams which are ready to be trimmed and thereupon draped into cigarette paper or the like. At least some smaller particles penetrate through the respective belts into the corresponding parts of the suction chamber. The contents of the suction chamber are evacuated by suction and are returned to the undersides of the elongated stretches of the belts for classification.

  • Publication number: 20020119873
Abstract: A machine for making composite filter mouthpieces for cigarettes or the like has a conveyor serving to transport a series of upright tubes of paper or the like past a vertically movable plunger which serves to introduce into successive tubes alternating plugs or wads of filter material and batches of flowable granular and/or pulverulent filter material. If the extent to which the plunger descends into a registering tube is outside of a predetermined range, the tube contains an excessive quantity or less than the required quantity of filter material. This is detected by one or more sensors which causes or cause ejection of the respective tube from the path for acceptable filter mouthpieces. A compensating device cooperates with the plunger to allow for proper confinement of flowable filter material against rattling between a pair of filter plugs if the quantity of such flowable filter material in a tube is below an optimum value.
