  • Patent number: 11794689
Abstract: A method for the dynamic fixation of an occupant wearing a seatbelt on a vehicle seat involves determining a lateral acceleration of the vehicle and a road course ahead of the vehicle. The seatbelt is tightened with a predetermined belt force for a predetermined period of time before entering a bend having a certain curvature.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 20, 2019
Date of Patent: October 24, 2023
    Assignee: MERCEDES-BENZ GROUP AG

  • Publication number: 20220185230
Abstract: A method for dynamically securing an occupant strapped into a vehicle seat with a seat belt involves determining a lateral acceleration of the vehicle and a road course ahead of the vehicle. A lateral acceleration to be expected in the course of a bend ahead of the vehicle is predicted based on image data of a vehicle environment acquired by means of at least one camera on the vehicle and/or on the basis of acquired data of a navigation map. In the event that the predicted lateral acceleration exceeds a situation-dependent predetermined trigger threshold for tightening the seat belt, a belt force acting on the seat belt is increased before the lateral acceleration acts on the occupant.

  • Patent number: 9988011
Abstract: A vehicle includes a pedestrian protection device having a car hood that can be opened on at least one edge facing the windscreen when a collision of a person against the vehicle is recognized. The device also includes at least one airbag, which in the triggered state, extends across a region of a windscreen pillar and a region of the windscreen adjacent to this.

  • Patent number: 9896056
Abstract: A passenger protection device for a vehicle includes an airbag assigned to at least one passenger in a rear compartment of the vehicle. The airbag can be activated and filled with a gas in the event of an imminent collision of the vehicle being detected or in the event of a collision. The airbag is formed such that that it is deployed in the activated and filled condition between a front vehicle seat and an upper body region, as well as a between the front vehicle seat and a knee and lower leg region of the passenger.

  • Patent number: 8960717
Abstract: A seatbelt strap for a seatbelt of a motor vehicle includes several seatbelt strap layers and at least one belt interior that can be charged with gas and is arranged between at least two seatbelt strap layers. The seatbelt strap layers are connected to one another in the region of the chargeable seatbelt interior at edge regions by tear strips having different seam thicknesses in different sections. The seatbelt strap layers are fastened to one another outside a region of the chargeable seatbelt interior in such a way that these remain connected to one another at least during the charging of the seatbelt interior.

  • Publication number: 20120191303
Abstract: A method for controlling a restraint device for occupants of a vehicle is provided. An environment of the vehicle is captured and a restraint device is triggered depending on object data and vehicle data determined in the environment. An impact probability is determined in stages based on determined object data and/or vehicle data. Depending on the determined strength of impact probability of a respective stage, a restraint device is pre-triggered or triggered, or triggering of restraint device is suppressed and determined triggering information is processed further in a next stage.
