  • Publication number: 20020082318
Abstract: The synthesis of self-adhesive polymerizabe monomers and their application as a water containing and a water free self-adhesive dental/medical composite is described. The dental/medical composite comprises a self-adhesive polymerizabe monomer, a polymerizable monomer, an acid-reactive and/or reactive and/or non-reactive filler, a diluent, a polymerization initiator and a stabilizer. As polymerization initiators are used the commonly known thermal initiators, redox initiators and/or photo initiators. The new adhesive dental composite develops adhesion to dentine of about 4 MPa. Fillers of high X-ray absorbance provide radio-opacity values grater than that of the same thickness of aluminium.

  • Publication number: 20020076671
Abstract: A cartridge and a method of venting prior during sealing the cartridge. The cartridge body has an external wall, a generally cylindrical internal chamber wall having an internal chamber wall diameter and enclosing a cartridge chamber, and at least one channel wall forming a channel (or groove) in the chamber wall. The piston has a generally cylindrical plug wall positioned adjacent to the generally cylindrical internal chamber wall. The cylindrical plug wall has a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the cylindrical internal chamber wall. Dental material is conveyed into the cartridge chamber. The piston is pressed into the cartridge chamber while venting gas from the cartridge chamber through the channel prior to forming a hermetic seal around the dental material in the cartridge chamber.

  • Publication number: 20020068771
Abstract: The invention describes a low shrinking polymerizable dental material, comprising a mixture of a polymerizable resin, a polymerizable monomer, a polymerization initiator and/or sensibilizer and a filler in a content of about 20 to about 85 percent. The volumetric shrinkage during polymerization is less than about 1.5 Vol.-% due to its rheopex behavior.

  • Patent number: 6372816
Abstract: The invention provides a storage stable dental composition comprising a volatile organic solvent and a polymerizable material enclosed by a package, which includes a closure, such as a cover or plug and a container made of a copolymer of a cycloolefin and an open chain olefin. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention is provided a stored packaged dental product by the process including: enclosing a dental composition in a package with at least a substantial portion of an injection molded thermoplastic copolymer of a cycloolefin and an open chain olefin, and storing the dental composition in the package for at least 1 week.

  • Patent number: 5688883
Abstract: The invention provides a polymerizable composition formed by mixing a liquid and a powder composition. The liquid composition includes a peroxide, which decomposes by at most fifty percent by weight of the peroxide within 10 hours at a temperature of at least 75.degree. C., and a polymerizable monomer. The powder composition comprising a proton donor, and a metal containing compound. The polymerizable composition has from 0.2 to 5 percent by weight of the peroxide, from 5 to 99 percent by weight of the polymerizable monomer, and from 0.1 to 3 percent by weight of the proton donor, and from 0.02 to 3 percent by weight of the metal containing compound. The polymerizable composition has an initial setting time and a storage setting time after storage of the first (liquid) composition for at least 12 months at a temperature of at least 23.degree. C.
