  • Patent number: 4910954
Abstract: The disclosure relates to the art field of machines for crafting jewelry, namely, chains both in precious metal and in costume jewelry metals. The apparatus of the present invention includes an indexing mechanism for feeding at least one wire, a cutter for severance of the wire into discrete lengths, a horizontal link former that can move transversely relative to the direction the wire is being fed, and a vertical pincer the grips of which are designed to loop the longitudinal member around the entire cross-sectional periphery of the link former in such a way that the ends of a length of wire, formed into a link exceed the peripheral length of the link thus manipulated. The pincer moves through a path parallel to the link former and into a position where soldering means are located that fuse together the end stretched portions of excess length of the link into a bead, thereby embellishing the finished link.

  • Patent number: 4716750
Abstract: The invention relates to a process by means of which to obtain hollow members from variegated longitudinal strips, longitudinally assembled. The hollow member obtained may either remain hollow or be provided with a removable core, and can be embodied in precious or semi-precious metals, or their alloys; strips of such materials are utilized to make up the various components of the hollow member's nominal cross section, and the end-product is a new type of multi-colored semi-finished article for use in the manufacture of high-class and costume jewelry, as well as in other fields such as the production of objects of art and/or general interior design.

  • Patent number: 4679391
Abstract: The method disclosed for automatic decoration of helicoid members and/or links of whatever cross section from which to fashion chain-type articles of jewelry comprises not only conventional steps, but also the additional steps of milling the wire to be crafted, winding it around a former with splines that grip the milled surface, and decorating it while still wound around the former, following which, and before formation of the links, the wire can be shaped to match the cross section of the end part of the splined former. Such a method is carried into effect with apparatus featuring a splined former capable of movement within a spiral sleeve provided with windows through which tools used for crafting are afforded access to the wire, and a mechanism which alters the geometry of the initial rounded section of the helicoid so as to produce any one of a variety of shapes.

  • Patent number: 4666790
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the manufacture of semi-finished polychrome composites from thin gage metals by pressing at least one first thin gage metal to create obverse and reverse sockets, then punching first and second inlays from at least one second metal having a gage equal to the depth of such sockets; before the inlays are located in their respective sockets and made fast, the surfaces to be brought into contact are roughened by micromachining, and the components are immersed in a chemical solution of antioxidant and volatile medium; a final step of the process, preferably, would consist in superfinishing the surfaces. A thin gage semi-finished composite articles both faces of which exhibit a polychrome design is obtained.

  • Patent number: 3955934
Abstract: A semimanufactured product for use in jewelry comprises a support band made of metal, on one face of which there is secured, by welding, at least one decorating band, also made of metal, provided with apertures. The surface of the support band and the surface of the decorating band present a different outer appearance, due either to different coloring, or to different design (obtained by machining or etching), or both, so that an optical contrast is obtained. The apertures may be filled with complementary shaped pieces of metal, which also present a different outer appearance. The total thickness of the assembled and secured support band and decorating band (or bands) corresponds to the thickness of use of the semimanufactured product, and is comprised between 0.15 mm and 5.00 mm.
