    Abstract: Techniques for charging a battery associated with a vehicle are discussed herein. A dense charging station for charging the battery may have lanes arranged in parallel, and each of the lanes may have sequential charging locations. A vehicle utilizing the charging station may position itself at the first available charging location, being receiving energy, and determine if a subsequent charging station becomes available in the lane, and then position itself at the subsequent charging location, once available. Multiple charging stations may be required to maintain a threshold power state for individual vehicles in a fleet of vehicles providing a service for a geographic region. A charging coordinator may determine when a battery of a vehicle does not satisfy a threshold power state and requires a recharge. Additionally, the charging coordinator may determine a candidate charging station from among multiple charging stations associated with the geographic region.

    Abstract: A request is received by a network management server, from a managed node, to get cluster information. The cluster information identifies a coordinator node and a leader node (a node hierarchy) that are used to track liveness of the managed node. The coordinator node and the leader node may be identified based on being in the same location as the managed node. The cluster information is sent to the managed node to make the managed node aware of the hierarchy. The coordinator node consolidates liveness of the nodes in its grouping in the cluster. The coordinator node sends a first liveness message of the managed node to the leader node. The leader consolidates a group of coordinator nodes by sending a second liveness message of the managed node to the network management server. This gives the network management server a status of all the managed nodes in the cluster.

    Abstract: A method for preserving privacy with respect to modeling event sequence data is provided. The method includes: receiving information about a sequence of events; modeling the event sequence by a Hawkes process that has an intensity that includes an exogenous base intensity rate and an indigenous component that has an excitation rate and a decay rate; analyzing the received information; and determining estimated values of the exogenous base intensity rate and the excitation rate, such that an accuracy of the estimates corresponds to a length of time over which the sequence of events is observed. Differential privacy is introduced by adding noise to the sequence of events in order to preserve the privacy of individuals associated with the events, and a cost of the differential privacy is expressible as an additional length of observation time required to ensure the accuracy of the estimates.
