  • Patent number: 8135834
Abstract: A system and method enables the balancing of inter-AS traffic from a primary AS to a target AS by adding a virtual node in the primary AS that appears connected to the edge routers that advertise via (I)BGP the ability to forward communications the target AS, and modifying the (I)BGP messages reflected to the primary AS to indicate that only the virtual node may forward communications to the target AS.

  • Patent number: 7948876
Abstract: A network device identifies a non-adaptive flow as follows. The network device drops packets on a random basis using a Random Early Detection (RED) algorithm. A classifier reads indicia of a flow from at least one field of a header of a packet received by the network device. The network device calculates a drop interval for packets of the flow dropped by the RED algorithm, in response to a time at which the packets were dropped. The network device then applies a statistical test to drop intervals of a plurality of flows in order to identify the non-adaptive flow.

  • Publication number: 20090165003
Abstract: In a multiprocessor system, a system and method assigns communications to processors, processes, or subsets of types of communications to be processed by a specific processor without using a locking mechanism specific to the resources required for assignment. The system and method can reschedule processes to run on the processor on which the assignment is made.

  • Patent number: 7292578
Abstract: A VTMS queue scheduler integrates traffic shaping and link sharing functions within a single mechanism and that scales to an arbitrary number of queues of an intermediate station in a computer network. The scheduler assigns committed information bit rate and excess information bit rate values per queue, along with a shaped maximum bit rate per media link of the station. The integration of shaping and sharing functions decreases latency-induced inaccuracies by eliminating a queue and feedback mechanism between the sharing and shaping functions of conventional systems.
