  • Patent number: 11190294
Abstract: A radio device (100) detects a trigger event, which may for example correspond to receiving a paging message (401). In response to the trigger event, the radio device (100) monitors radio channel quality experienced by the radio device (100). In response to a condition based on the monitored radio channel quality channel being met, the radio device triggers a data transfer with the cellular network.

  • Patent number: 10542514
Abstract: A mobile communication network comprises a first cell (200) and a second cell (210, 220, 230, 240) arranged in a coverage area of the first cell (200). A node (100) of the mobile communication network obtains positioning data of a UE (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16). The node (100) correlates the positioning data to a coverage area of the second cell (210, 220, 230, 240). Depending on the correlation of the positioning data and the coverage area of the second cell (210, 220, 230, 240), the node (100) selects between an active state and an inactive state of the second cell (210, 220, 230, 240). In accordance with the selected state, the node controls a base station of the second cell (210, 220, 230, 240).

  • Patent number: 10348465
Abstract: A cellular multiple-input and multiple-output, MIMO, system comprises a base station having a plurality of antennas. Pilot signals are received by the base station in each frame of a sequence of frames (60). The base station analyzes the pilot signals to determine radio channel properties of radio channels between respectively each one of a plurality of terminals and the base station. The sequence of frames (60) comprises frames of a first frame type (61, 63, 64, 68) and frames of a second frame type (62, 69). Each frame of the second frame type (62, 69) have a greater number of time slots in which the base station receives the pilot signals than each frame of the first frame type (61, 63, 64, 68). The frames of the second frame type (62, 69) are included periodically in the sequence of frames (60).

  • Patent number: 10237867
Abstract: Methods of operating an electronic device are provided. A method of operating a first electronic device includes listening for a wireless transmission by a second electronic device on a wireless communications channel. The method includes determining whether a packet is a particular type of packet. The method includes assigning a randomized time delay value that defines a randomized delay period, in response to determining that the packet is the particular type of packet. The method includes beginning the randomized delay period in response to determining that the wireless communications channel is clear. Moreover, the method includes transmitting the packet via the wireless communications channel based on expiration of the randomized delay period. Related electronic devices and computer program products are also provided.

  • Patent number: 10149345
Abstract: The invention is directed to systems, methods and computer program products for discontinuous signaling in a mobile communication network. User equipment (UE)/mobile terminal requests slotted transmissions and, in response to the network authorizing slotted transmissions, communication of subsequent UE transmissions are slotted, such that a minimum time period is required to elapse between each UE transmission. In specific embodiments of the invention the minimum time period is a predetermined time period known in advance to the user equipment and network. In other embodiments of the invention the user equipment slotted transmission requests includes a requested minimum time period, which may be approved or revised by the network. In still further embodiments the network, upon receiving the request for slotted transmissions, determines the minimum time period.
