    Abstract: A combustible delay barrier for providing a delay to intrusion into an object. The delay barrier comprises a combustible layer containing a source of fuel such as a metal and/or a polymer and a source of oxygen such as an oxidizer. The combustible layer of the delay barrier is ignitable at a temperature in excess of about 300.degree. C., during combustion is resistant to the effects of common fire extingushing materials, and is capable of sustaining combustion with a burn rate of no more than about six inches per minute.
