  • Publication number: 20180084792
Abstract: The invention relates to an edible tubular collagen film which has a closure at either of their ends. The closure is formed by an edible solid ring-like element which tightens the end portion of casing and seals the outlet of the same, in order to stop the filling mass upon beginning of a sausage stuffing process, whereby in such a process one can rescue the initial filled sausage for its further processing, whereafter the ring disappears. This edible closing element is characterized by being of an edible, and thermoplastic composition, which is preferably based on collagen or gelatine. The solid composition has a low melting temperature and becomes adhesive at fluid state onto the surface of a collagen film which contains a certain level of moisture. The strong cohesiveness of the material of said composition in the fluid state as well as the so narrow difference between its melting temperature and the temperature of solidification, makes that a welding of said material to be set very quickly.

  • Patent number: 9156950
Abstract: The invention provides a new collagen based technology. The invention provides a dry collagen powder as a precursor for the preparation of an homogeneous thermoplastic collagen-based composition, which may further comprise additives. The present invention relates also the use of said composition in the manufacturing of solid articles conformed according to plastic technology, and to the articles.

  • Patent number: 8153176
Abstract: The present invention relates to biodegradable protein based thermoset compositions formulated from a powder of a dry and finely ground protein material, from which the water has been thoroughly removed, an anhydrous and liquid alcohol and other optional additives. The inventions also relates to the method for obtaining these compositions in which the components are homogeneously mixed, under controlled conditions of temperature and moisture, to obtain a homogenous and shelf-cohesive mass, that can be shaped in any predetermined form by diverse molding methods, being readily set through the application of a certain amount of heat during a short period of time, which enables it to turn into a solid shaped body or article through a very simple process.

  • Patent number: 7556800
Abstract: The current invention involves a universal fishing bait fundamentally comprised of a cord body of filaments or strips of fibrous collagen made up into any shape or design capable of attracting fish, that is 100% biodegradable and that furthermore has a good capacity to diffuse and liberate attractant substances. The bait invented presents excellent mechanical properties in terms of resistance to breakage and resistance to tearing, is easily manipulated, transported and stored. Similarly, the invention provides for the use of fibrous collagen in the preparation of said universal fishing bait.

  • Patent number: 7534422
Abstract: The current invention involves a universal fishing bait fundamentally comprised of a matrix of fibrous collagen made up into any shape or design capable of attracting fish, that is 100% biodegradable and innocuous, that has physico-chemical properties that confer it with the capacity to accommodate liberate and diffuse attractant substances, and whose physico-mechanical properties confer it a soft and flexible texture, as well as making it resistant to breakage. Likewise, the invention outlines a procedure to prepare such a bait, and a precursor paste employed in the preparation, as well as the use of fibrous collagen in the preparation of said universal fishing bait.
