  • Patent number: 5303679
Abstract: This engine includes an engine block rotatably mounted on a support and including a central chamber communicating with outwardly protruding radial piston chambers closed by cylinder heads. A crank shaft is rotatably mounted in the engine block parallel to the rotation axis of the latter and radially offset therefrom. A drive train couples the engine block with the crank shaft for causing rotation of the two in the same direction and at equal rotational speed. A piston is reciprocable in each piston chamber and all the pistons are linked by connecting rods to the crank shaft at connecting points which are angularly advanced in the direction of rotation of the engine block relative to the longitudinal axes of the piston chambers. It follows that the combustion stroke is effected while the connecting rods exert a maximal torque on the crank shaft.

  • Patent number: 4645428
Abstract: A fluid displacement rotary machine is disclosed, more specifically a rotating piston compressor enclosed in a casing formed with a vent through which may freely enter the gas or vapor to be compressed. Radial cylinders are part of a rotor rotatably supported by a shaft co-axial with the rotor. The rotor is power-driven. The piston connecting rods rotate about a stud fixed to the casing and eccentric to the rotor. Each cylinder head includes a scoop rotating therewith and adapted to channel the gas or vapor into the cylinder head; and further includes a delivery pipe connected to a bore formed in the rotor supporting shaft which extends externally of one casing end wall. The cylinders and the pistons rotate in respective annular paths and yet the pistons make a reciprocating movement within their cylinders because of the eccentric mounting of the stud relative to the rotor axis.

  • Patent number: 4421073
Abstract: An internal combustion rotary engine of the type comprising a rotor, an output shaft eccentric to the rotor, pistons reciprocable in and out in the rotor relative to its axis of rotation, and piston rods connecting the pistons to the shaft. This rotary engine is characterized by the absence of dead points in the course of the pistons and piston rods, by connection of the piston rods to the output shaft to maintain substantial leverage for the action of the pistons on the output shaft, and by a simple connection between the output shaft and the rotor to concurrently synchronize them.
