  • Publication number: 20170031406
Abstract: A power distribution system includes a chassis with a plurality of ports that include a first port configured to communicate with powering devices and a second port configured to communicate with powered devices. A power distribution engine in the chassis is coupled to each of the plurality of ports. The power distribution engine determines that power available to the power distribution engine is insufficient to power a first powered device that is coupled to the first port, requests power from a first powering device that is coupled to the second port, and provides power that is received through the second port from the first powering device to the first powered device through the first port. In an embodiment, the first powered device and the second powered device are switch IHSs, the first port is configured as a trunk port, and the second port is configured as an access port.

  • Publication number: 20170012851
Abstract: A microburst monitoring system includes a port and a memory system with an egress queue and a shadow queue that are associated with the port. A networking engine is coupled to the port and the memory system and configured to receive and process packets to provide egress frames for forwarding through the port. The networking engine then stores the egress frames in the egress queue, and stores information about each of the egress frames in the shadow queue. When the networking device determines that the storage of the egress frames has caused the egress queue to reach a threshold, the networking device causes the information about each of the egress frames in the egress queue to be captured, and that captured information may be analyzed to determine a source device that is generating at least some of the packets to be throttled.

  • Patent number: 9247318
Abstract: A rack securing system includes a rack having a plurality of posts that are oriented to house a plurality of device chassis. Each of the plurality of posts includes a plurality of post apertures that are operable to receive a fastener to couple an edge of a device chassis to the rack. A first securing member includes that includes a plurality of first securing member apertures is operable to be oriented adjacent a first post such that the plurality of first securing member apertures align with respective post apertures on the first post and the first securing member extends over at least one fastener that is coupling an edge of a device chassis to the rack. At least two locking devices are operable to extend through respective aligned first securing member apertures and post apertures to secure the first securing member to the first post.

  • Patent number: 9237664
Abstract: Multi-module keying systems and methods include a chassis. A first module slot and a second module slot are located on the chassis. A keying device is movably coupled to the chassis and includes a first keying member that is located adjacent the first module slot and a second keying member that is located adjacent the second module slot. The keying device is configured to move in response to a first keyed module being positioned in the first module slot such that the first keyed module engages the first keying member. The movement of the keying device positions the second keying member adjacent the second module slot to restrict modules that may be positioned in the second module slot to second keyed modules. The systems and methods allow the second module slot to be keyed for second keyed modules based on the first keyed module positioned in the first module slot.
