  • Patent number: 7925612
Abstract: An enhanced method for displaying assessment and analysis of risks of adverse effects resulting from use of at least one substance of interest, comprising: identifying the at least one substance of interest; selecting a profile related to the safety of the at least one substance of interest, using at least one filter; analyzing the risks of adverse effects resulting from the use of the at least one substance of interest using at least one data mining engine; and displaying the results of the analysis of risks of adverse effects in a format that permits perception of correlations. Such a format is preferably at least one format selected from the group consisting of a radar display for display of correlations, a sortable table, and a sortable line listing and where the format contains elements linked to data regarding the adverse effects.

  • Publication number: 20090076847
Abstract: A method for assessing and analyzing one or more drugs, adverse effects and associated risks, and patient characteristics resulting from the use of at least drug of interest is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of selecting one or more cases for analysis, said cases describing the behavior between at least one drug of interest and a patient genotype; profiling statistically derived values from multiple cases related to the safety of the at least one drug, wherein at least one filter is employed for deriving said values; at least one data mining engine; and an output device for displaying the analytic results from the data mining engine. A system for performing the method is likewise disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6789091
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for accessing and analyzing the adverse effects resulting from the use of at least one drug of interest. The method includes storing data regarding the risks of adverse effects from the use of at least one drug of interest in one or more servers linked to the Internet. This data is updated with additional information pertinent to the risks of adverse effects from the use of the at least one drug of interest. A remote user is permitted to access the data through the World Wide Web upon proper authentication. The remote user is permitted to identify the at least one drug of interest and select data stored in one or more servers relevant to the safety of using the at least one drug of interest. The remote user is then permitted to analyze safety issues resulting from use of the at least one drug of interest and to display the requested data and any resulting analysis.

  • Patent number: 6778994
Abstract: A system and method for developing a pharmacovigilance database from source data and reference data. The unedited source data contains verbatim terms. The method includes parsing source data into a relational safety database; performing cleanup on the relational safety database; and mapping verbatim terms from the cleaned safety database to at least one token from at least one reference source. Cleanup includes removing redundant entries, correcting misspellings, removing irrelevant non-alpha characters and noise words, and relocating dislocated terms. Mapping verbatim terms to tokens includes nominating tokens from the source data, choosing tokens from the reference sources, and linking chosen tokens to corresponding verbatim terms. In one embodiment, the history of clean-up and mapping is saved as the pedigree of the verbatim-to-token mapping.
