    Abstract: Embodiments of the invention disclosed herein generally relate to anti-cocaine therapeutics. Specifically, some embodiments of the invention relate to highly efficient, thermostable, and long-lasting cocaine esterase (CocE) mutants that can protect against the toxic and reinforcing effects of cocaine in subjects. Provided herein are mutant CocE polypeptides displaying thermostable esterase activity. Also provided are methods of treating cocaine-induced conditions in a subject in need via administration of mutant CocE as well as methods for high-throughput screening of candidate esterase polypeptides.

    Abstract: A pigmented adhesive, halo-free heat transfer label is created when adhesive properties are incorporated into colored inks used to print graphics on labels for items such as apparel. The resulting label has a halo-free graphic applied thereto that eliminates the need for a separate application of adhesive to the label. A pigmented adhesive composition for use with heat transfer type labels includes a hydroxyl-functional polyurethane dispersion, one or more polyurethane dispersions different from the hydroxyl-functional polyurethane dispersion, a blocked cross-linking agent, a catalyst for the blocked cross-linking agent, a pigment dispersion, and an adhesive powder, which are combined prior to the formation of a graphic created using the combined mixture, on the release layer of a substrate.

    Abstract: An improved construction for a heating element for an appliance is disclosed. A coiled resistance wire extending coaxially along the length of an elongate sheath is surrounded by an electrically insulating, high thermally conductive material that fills the sheath around the wire. The resistance wire is secured to a terminal pin at a connection comprising a connection insert that is securely affixed to the terminal pin, intermediate the terminal pin and resistance wire. The resistance wire is then able to be welded to the connector to provide a superior mechanical connection between a terminal pin and the resistance wire, even though the terminal pin is made from copper. The disclosed construction, therefore, provides good electrical and thermal conductivity and resists the tendency to separate during manufacture.

    Abstract: A shutter assembly which requires minimal storing space substantially comprises a) a plurality of transparent or glass slats which form a shutter by being vertically suspended one after another, b) a storage case storing the slats in a stacked condition, the storage case being mounted on an upper part of an entrance of a building, c) a plurality of slat connecting devices each of which perpendicularly connects the bottom end of any succeeding slat to the upper end of any preceding slat, and d) brake means for applying braking force onto any one of the slats for enabling the shutter to stop at any desired height from the floor of the building. Accordingly, the shutter can be automatically stopped at any desired position from the ground or floor level thus assuring the safety of the user.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses an emergency ladder equipment. Such an emergency ladder equimpment is mounted on the outside wall of the top floor of buildings. The emergency ladder equipment substantially comprises a number of ladder members which are stored in a storage case in a stacked or folded manner except for an emergency case, wherein the storage case is mounted on the outside wall of buildings. Each ladder member is connected by a connecting device to the subsequent ladder member. Furthermore, the bottom end of each ladder member is supported by a support stay disposed in the storage case. By releasing the support stay, each ladder member slides down one after another in series while being connected by a plurality of connecting devices to form a complete ladder which is installed along the outside wall of the building.
