  • Publication number: 20230363615
Abstract: An appliance and method for operating an appliance is provided. The appliance includes a pump configured to flow a volume of fluid, a flow nozzle configured to eject the fluid provided from the pump, and a motor configured to selectively operate the pump to flow the fluid through the flow nozzle. The method includes acquiring a dataset including a function of current magnitude and time corresponding to operation of a pump to flow a volume of fluid; determining an average current magnitude based at least on the dataset; determining a standard deviation based at least on the average current magnitude; comparing the standard deviation to a threshold to determine whether to transmit a control command based.

  • Patent number: 11268921
Abstract: Induction cooktops and operational methods are provided herein. A method of determining material composition of cookware on an induction cooktop can include determining that a piece of cookware is on the induction cooktop, inducing a current within the piece of cookware with an induction coil of the induction cooktop, and obtaining a peak induction coil current, a smoothed input line current, and a phase shift of current flowing in the induction coil. The method can further include comparing the peak induction coil current, the smoothed input line current, and the phase shift each to a set of predetermined ranges, and determining candidate material compositions for the cookware based on the comparing of each of the peak induction coil current, the smoothed input line current, and the phase shift.

  • Patent number: 11064573
Abstract: Systems and methods of quasi-resonant induction heating are provided. In particular, a method for evaluating the resonant frequency of a quasi-resonant induction cooking device can be provided. The method can include generating a startup pulse, receiving multiple feedback pulses from a resonant frequency feedback circuit, measuring a pulse width of each of the feedback pulses, calculating an average pulse width based upon the feedback pulses and determining the resonant frequency based at least in part on the average pulse width and a transfer function.

  • Publication number: 20190289678
Abstract: A method of operating an induction cooktop appliance includes supplying a power signal to an induction heating element of the induction cooktop appliance in response to a request received via a user input of the cooktop appliance. The method also includes detecting a current of the power signal supplied to the induction heating element and detecting a phase angle of the power signal supplied to the induction heating element. The method may further include determining a maximum current based on the detected phase angle, comparing the detected current to the determined maximum current, and modifying an operating parameter of the induction cooktop appliance when the detected current is greater than the determined maximum current.
