Abstract: A method is performed at a computing device having a display, one or more processors, and memory. The device displays a graphical user interface on the display. A user provides a natural language input, which specifies a filter, including a first data field, a relation, and a first comparison value. The user then replaces the first data field in the filter with a second data field. In response to replacing the first data field, the device automatically replaces the first comparison value with a second comparison value. The second comparison value corresponds to the data type of the second data field. In some instances, the device also updates the relation based on the data type of the second data field. The device then displays an updated data visualization according to the updated filter.

Abstract: Various methods for generating map-based snippets are provided. One example method includes determining that a content page identifier includes an indication that a content page includes a map. In this regard, data for rendering the content page may include at least destination information. The method may also include in response to determining that the content page identifier includes an indication that the content page includes a map, extracting the destination information from the content page. The example method may further include constructing a user interface snippet that is selectable for retrieving the content page, where the user interface snippet includes a component that is generated based at least in part on the destination information. Similar and related example methods and example apparatuses are also provided.

Abstract: A method of displaying content on a device comprises detecting a screen orientation change event, determining if one or more applications are configured to accommodate a screen orientation change, and triggering a screen orientation adjustment in a rich media engine. The screen orientation change event may be a hardware change associated with the device. The hardware change may be detected via sensors in the device. The screen orientation change event may be an input by the user or a signal received from a remote device.

Abstract: An approach is provided for customizing map presentations. A semantic mapping platform determines context information for rendering a map on a user device. The semantic mapping platform then classifies a plurality of objects available for display in the map based on a level of association of each of the objects with the context information. The semantic mapping platform also prioritizes rendering of the objects based on the classification and causes, at least in part, actions that result in the rendering of the objects in the map according to the prioritization.

Abstract: The semantics of a relational database may be modeled using an entity-relationship (ER) diagram that represents entities and the relations between the entities. Systems and methods are provided for automatically composing meaningful thumbnails/composited images or visuals from ER diagrams and their associated databases by using the semantics of the underlying data model. First, the most meaningful relations in which a given data element participates are extracted. Second, composited images are composed depicting these relations using a domain-specific visual language and rendering techniques based on the relative weighting of the relations.

Abstract: An approach is provided for providing an ordering metric for a multi-dimensional contextual query. An ordering platform determines a multi-dimensional query associated with at least one user device, wherein the multi-dimensional query specifies, at least in part, one or more personas, one or more contexts, or a combination thereof associated with the at least one user device. The ordering platform further causes, at least in part, an execution of the multi-dimensional query on at least one context-sensitive database to generate one or more results. The ordering platform further determines at least one ordering metric for the one or more results based, at least in part, on one or more user contextual attributes of the at least one user device.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, and computer program product are described that provide for an active digital bezel area on a display of a device, where the configuration of the bezel area is determined to enhance the user's interaction with the device display. Upon determining that a bezel area is to be provided, the bezel area may be provided in at least a portion of a boundary area of the display based on a specific, customized configuration of the bezel area. First content may be displayed in the non-bezel area of the device, whereas second content may be displayed in at least a portion of the bezel area of the display. In this way, even when a bezel is provided, the user's experience with a particular application may be unobstructed and unobscured by other content that is presented, such as via the intermittent or automatic presentation of information to the user.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for generating an image, such as a thumbnail, representation of a video sequence, where the video sequences includes a plurality of frames, at least some of which include an image of a scene that may include one or more objects. The method can include identifying a plurality of objects from the video sequence, and selecting at least some of the identified objects. In addition, the method can include extracting the selected objects from the frames of the video sequence including the respective objects, and combining the selected and extracted objects into an image representation of the video sequence.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are therefore provided for an identity resolution application to handle identity resolution issues that arise when data regarding a persona is available from multiple sources. A method may be provided that includes receiving an indication that a first profile represents a persona of interest, searching for potential profile matches that are at least partially related to the persona of interest, and assessing a confidence level that the potential profile match belongs to the persona of interest. The method may further include providing for presentation of a potential profile match and receiving a confirmation that a potential profile match belongs to the persona of interest where the potential profile match then becomes a confirmed profile match. The first profile may comprise a plurality of data elements related to the persona of interest.

Abstract: An extension to the ISO Base Media File Format to support ALC as a broadcast protocol. The present invention also provides for the extension of the ESG to include metadata specific to the transport of SVG over mobile broadcast/multicast networks. A “BMFDP hint track” is introduced in the container file format, with the required file metadata being in these hint tracks. The present invention can be used in applications such as the preview of long cartoon animations, interactive Mobile TV services, live enterprise data feeds, live chat services, and karaoke programs.
