  • Publication number: 20240134445
Abstract: When the speed of head movement exceeds the processing capability of the system, a reduced depiction is displayed. As one example, the resolution may be reduced using coarse pixel shading in order to create a new depiction at the speed of head movement. In accordance with another embodiment, only the region the user is looking at is processed in full resolution and the remainder of the depiction is processed at lower resolution. In still another embodiment, the background depictions may be blurred or grayed out to reduce processing time.

  • Publication number: 20240113321
Abstract: The present invention relates to lithium ion cells and specifically to lower capacity (3-10 Ah) elliptic cylindrical lithium ion cells with individual positive and negative terminals projecting from the top of the cell. In particular, the present invention relates to lower capacity elliptic cylindrical lithium ion cells with plastic compression seals, and method of processing them. The cells of the present application exhibit good charge retention and low internal resistance and can be employed for mission critical applications viz. powering satellites, launch vehicles, military vehicles, submarines and electric vehicles.

  • Patent number: 8583613
Abstract: Novel tools for updating data structures in a database are presented. In an aspect, the tools are used to update a database's structures in response to the update of an application (such as an enterprise application) that uses the database. In another aspect, the tools may convert a data set to a new format when the updated application attempts to access the data set; in some cases, other data sets within the database might remain unconverted until their use. Advantageously, this allows for a database (and/or a table within a database) to be updated incrementally and/or on demand. This feature can mitigate the impact of the update on users, for example, by avoiding the need to take the database (and/or application) offline to perform a batch process to update the database.

Date of Patent: November 12, 2013

  • Publication number: 20080274090
Abstract: The subject invention concerns new methods which make it possible, for the first time, to grow functional islet-producing stem cells (IPSCs), islet progenitor cells (IPCs) and IPC-derived islets (IdIs) in in vitro cultures. The subject invention also concerns the use of the in vitro grown IPSCs, IPCs and/or IdIs for implantation into a mammal for in vivo therapy of diabetes. The subject invention further concerns a process of using the implanted cells for growing a pancreas-like structure in vivo that has the same functional, morphological and histological characteristics as those observed in normal pancreatic endocrine tissue. The ability to grow these cells in vitro and pancreas-like structures in vivo opens up important new avenues for research and therapy relating to diabetes.
