  • Patent number: 7201915
Abstract: Described for the purpose of application to an inanimate laminar substantially solid surface is a substantially hydrocarbon-free functional substance-providing stick article having consistently-maintained functional composition integrity comprising a stiff, substantially monophasic, thermally-reversible hydrocarbon-free composition consisting essentially of a mixture of: (a) a structural support polymer containing an ester-terminated polyamide and/or at least one tertiary amide-terminated polyamide; (b) a high concentration of a system-compatible functional composition which is one or more of a perfume composition, an insect repellant composition, an animal repellant composition, an anti-microbial composition, an insect attractant composition and/or an air freshener composition; and (c) at least one compatible operativeness organic acid ester and/or metal salt additive which enables the stick, prior to, during and subsequent to application thereof to the inanimate laminar substantially solid surface, to ha

  • Patent number: 5147634
Abstract: A heat generating hair permanent composition is disclosed. The composition has a pH of about 6.8 to 10. It is the reaction product of a mixture of about 6 to 10 parts of an aqueous hair reducing composition containing from 5 to 20 weight percent reducing agent with about 0.5 to 3 parts of an aqueous oxidizing solution which contains 1 to 6 weight percent hydrogen peroxide.

  • Patent number: 5034219
Abstract: A hair conditioning composition which when applied to color-treated hair prior to perming with formulations based on thioglycolate or sulfite minimizes the reduction in tensile strength of the hair comprising about 0.1 to about 4.0 weight-percent of a water-dispersible dialkyl (C.sub.12-18) dimethyl ammonium halide; about 0.1 to about 2.5 weight-percent of alkyl (C.sub.12-18) dimethyl benzyl ammonium halide; about 0.1 to about 2.0 weight-percent of a homopolymer of diallyl dialkyl ammonium halide; optionally a thickener, a moisturizer, an emulsifier, a protein conditioner, a preservative, a colorant, and/or a perfume; and the remainder to 100 weight-percent water; and a method of conditioning color-treated hair therewith.

  • Patent number: 4847076
Abstract: A method for enhancing the body of hair comprising applying to the hair a composition comprising as essential ingredients in certain critical amounts an alkali metal or ammonium bisulfite, an alkanolamine, a guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, a certain quaternary ammonium conditioner, an alkali metal or ammonium carbonate or an alkali metal phosphate when the bisulfite is alkali metal bisulfite and water; working the composition into the hair, lifting the hair with, e.g., the finger tips, a hair pick or the tail of a comb, allowing the composition to remain in contact with the hair for about 20 to 30 minutes, rinsing the hair and drying the hair.
