  • Publication number: 20050139157
Abstract: A nozzle array for use in the coating of a mobile web-like material has a plurality of high-pressure nozzles (2.1, 2.2) in the transverse direction of the web. The nozzles (2.1, 2.2) have been classified by a variable acting on the flow so that the deviation of the variable within the array is smaller than a pre-set value. The yield of each nozzle being the same with optimal precision, an optimally even coating is achieved on the web.

  • Publication number: 20050123678
Abstract: The surface of a continuous web, the fibrous portion of which consists of papermaking fibres, is coated with a coating powder. The web is allowed to move between electrodes, which are in different potentials. A coating powder of inorganic material and polymeric binder material is applied on the surface of the web by utilizing the difference in the electric potential. The coated surface of the web is then finished. The coating powder comprises 10.1-99.5 wt.-% of inorganic material. A dry surface treated sheet material is thus formed.

  • Publication number: 20050123777
Abstract: A film is formed on a planar surface by applying a granular layer on the planar surface by using electrostatic forces, and then finishing the granular layer to form the film. A converting line may be rebuilt to have devices employing this method. A multilayer sheet-like product comprising a film layer may be produced.

  • Patent number: 6863919
Abstract: The invention relates to a method by means of which the machine-direction moisture of a web being coated can be controlled in an optimal manner that takes into account moisture content changes along the entire path of the coating and drying process. Advantageously, all the dryers the coater section are controlled in an integrated manner in order to obtain a controlledly processed product which is optimized in regard to energy consumption and product quality. Each process section and unit contributing to the drying of the web is identified by means of a mathematical submodel describing the specific evaporation rate in the respective process section/unit and, by chaining these submodels, a composite model is compiled for the entire process, whereby the composite model makes it possible to manage the drying operation in the process so that the individual units are controlled as a portion of the overall process.

  • Publication number: 20040131875
Abstract: A method is disclosed for manufacturing a web of paper and paperboard, in which method a spray-coating technique is used for applying a web treatment substance to at least one surface of a moving web. The qualities of the web treatment substance are selected such that at least the droplet size and viscosity of the web treatment substance are controlled such as to make the thickness of the applied web treatment substance essentially equal in at least two randomly selected sample areas. By the definition of the invention, this means that the applied coating conforms with the surface contour of the base sheet. The publication also discloses a paper manufactured using the method.
