  • Patent number: 5365434
Abstract: A system is provided for inputting of a portion of a word or problem on a specific page of a book for assisting the reader of the book in understanding the term as it is being used in the book. An interchangeable memory is inserted into the system corresponding to the book which is being read. An interchangeable or permanent system memory is further provided for storing commonly used words or problems with respect to the subject matter of the book therein. The system operates by inputting a page number and a portion of a word or problem in the book into the system, and the system matches this portion on the specific page with a word or problem in its memories. The word and definition may then be output by the system so that the reader understands the word or problem as it is being used. In addition, alternate definitions of the word or similar problems to the problem which is output may be provided to the reader for further aid in comprehension.

  • Patent number: 4951558
Abstract: An apparatus for fastening on a cooking pot raises and lowers a basket into the pot under the control of a temperature sensor and timer. The lifting and lowering mechanism includes a hollow outer rod and threaded inner rod, the inner rod being driven by a motor. Various arrangements of controls, housing shapes, and a fastener to the cooking pot are provided, as is a stirring mechanism which plugs in place of the lifting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4660513
Abstract: A two cycle internal combustion piston engine is provided with cam controlled inlet valves, as well as exhaust valves, disposed in the head of the engine cylinder. The two cycle engine can perform with an expansion ratio greater than the compression ratio. A standard two cycle internal combustion piston engine can be converted to the inventive two cycle engine construction by replacing the conventional engine cylinder head, replacing the conventional engine valve cam shaft, and directing air flow in the intake manifold to one side of the replacement cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 4614169
Abstract: A reciprocating piston machine, such as an internal combustion engine, is provided with a piston translator arrangement operated by a pair of oppositely rotatable crankshaft means disposed on opposed sides of the cylinder longitudinal axis such that the piston moves in a true straightline motion. This arrangement enhances ultimately possible compressions and improves operating efficiency since debilitating cylinder sidewall pressure by the piston is eliminated and forces are carried by two shaft systems, instead of one. An arrangement for removal of the piston from the cylinder, uniquely adapted for straightline motion piston running, is also disclosed.
