  • Patent number: 11867101
Abstract: An assembly includes a rotor housing, a first rotor, a lubrication system, a first vibration sensor, and an engine control system. The rotor housing forms a first rotor cavity. The first rotor is configured for rotation within the first rotor cavity. The first rotor includes the plurality of apex seals. The lubrication system is configured to supply a lubrication flow for lubrication of the plurality of apex seals. The first vibration sensor is on the rotor housing. The first vibration sensor is configured to generate a vibration measurement signal. The engine control system includes a processor in communication with a non-transitory memory storing instructions, which instructions when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: identify that the vibration measurement signal exceeds a first vibration threshold, and increase a flow rate of the lubrication flow based on an identification of the vibration measurement signal exceeding the first vibration threshold.

  • Publication number: 20220298974
Abstract: A method of performing maintenance on an aircraft engine includes removing a propeller shaft of the aircraft engine to form an access volume at a center of the aircraft engine. The access volume extends axially and radially relative to a center axis of the aircraft engine. The method includes performing maintenance on a lubricant strainer positioned at a location of the access volume where a carrier of the aircraft engine engages an output of the aircraft engine.

  • Patent number: 11383299
Abstract: A process for joining two or more powder injection molded parts by preparing at least two green parts from a feedstock including a binder and an injection powder. Placing the two or more green part into intimate contact, and maintaining the two green parts in intimate contact at a position with a linkage between the at least two green parts to produce an interconnected green assembly. Placing the assembly under shape retaining conditions, melting the binder of the interconnected green assembly under shape retaining conditions to produce a seamless body.

  • Patent number: 11274556
Abstract: The stiffness of a rotor part is varied over its circumference to allow damper rings to effectively work in high speed applications. Circumferentially spaced-apart pockets may be defined in the rotor to create discontinuous strain to increase the force required to lock the damper ring in the groove above the centrifugal force of the ring when the rotor is rotating.

  • Patent number: 11268453
Abstract: An epicyclic gear train includes a sun gear and planet gears mounted to a carrier and engaged to the sun gear. The planet gears and the carrier are rotatable about a center axis, and the carrier is engaged with a power output at a carrier-output engagement location. Ring gears are in meshed engagement with the planet gears. Planet gear bearings are disposed between one of the planet gears and the carrier. A lubrication interface is defined between each planet gear bearing and one of the planet gears. A bearing lubrication system includes a lubricant supply conduit extending between a conduit inlet at the carrier-output engagement location and conduit outlets at the lubrication interfaces of the planet gear bearings. A lubricant strainer is mounted about the conduit inlet at the carrier-output engagement location.
