  • Publication number: 20040215467
Abstract: A system for handling electronic documents, such as requests for quotations used in procurement under an electronic auction, includes several features. Once the need to procure a new item (or service) is identified, an electronic request for quotations (“RFQ”) is generated. Under one embodiment, one or more electronic forms, such as Web page screens, prompt an RFQ author for data entry. Previously prepared RFQs may be readily retrieved and amended. The system requires certain fields to be completed so that RFQ generation is uniform across an organization and RFQs are unambiguous for suppliers. The electronic RFQ is provided to suppliers well before an auction.

  • Publication number: 20030014350
Abstract: A system for providing metrics reports concerning reverse electronic auctions provides several components. The system includes a gather component for receiving electronic auction information from one or more electronic auction computers and a database for storing the electronic auction information. The system may also include a submission component for receiving requests for metrics reports from a user on a user computer, as well as a metrics report component for creating a metrics report which may be at least partially based on parameters supplied by the user and the electronic information stored in the database. Metrics reports may be used to track the reverse electronic auctions in order to determine where additional improvements and/or efficiencies can be made. Some or all steps in the process are performed electronically, or with electronic forms (e.g., Web-based forms), to eliminate bottlenecks and streamline the metrics report generation process.

  • Publication number: 20020099638
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for listing, approving and contacting suppliers or other individuals/organizations. In one embodiment, a user schedules an electronic auction and then selects suppliers from a list of suppliers to participate in the auction. New suppliers may be added. The system provides a series of Web page forms or other user input devices for receiving supplier selection and new supplier data. Other authorized users may either make suggestions and/or approve suppliers. The system provides automatic notification between such users and provides directly, or gives access to, electronic documents providing relevant information, such as information regarding the auction. Once all suppliers have been accepted, the system automatically distributes relevant information to accepted suppliers.

  • Publication number: 20020087382
Abstract: A system for assigning and managing tasks for individuals within an organization who are working together on a larger project, such as an electronic auction. Under this embodiment, once the need to procure an item (or service) is identified, an electronic auction is scheduled, and a request for quotations (RFQ) is generated. The system automatically assigns tasks to individuals within the organization to fulfill before a scheduled auction date. Alternatively, or additionally, the system permits one or more users or individuals to manually assign tasks to others within the organization. The system may track due dates and provide notifications, including periodic reminders.
