Patent number: 11988515Abstract: A transportation management system generates routing guidance from an origin location to a destination location by modifying edge weights in a graph of a geographic location to penalize difficult immediate maneuvers. Responsive to receiving a routing request, the system identifies a position of a provider device in a base map having edges representing road segments and nodes representing intersections between road segments. A sub-graph is generated for the edges in the base graph located up to a threshold distance from the origin location, and the system modifies the weight of one or more edges in the sub-graph corresponding to a difficult immediate maneuver. When applying a routing algorithm to generate the routing guidance, the system uses the edge weights of the generated sub-graph for a first portion of the routing guidance and the original edge weights of the base graph for a second portion of the routing guidance.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2021Date of Patent: May 21, 2024Assignee: Uber Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Rifat Berk, Joseph Kelly Barker, Pranav Deepak Agrawal, Vineet Khosla, Nishanth Mohan

Publication number: 20230368791Abstract: Systems and processes for application integration with a digital assistant are provided. In accordance with one example, a method includes, at an electronic device having one or more processors and memory, receiving a natural-language user input; identifying, with the one or more processors, an intent object of a set of intent objects and a parameter associated with the intent, where the intent object and the parameter are derived from the natural-language user input. The method further includes identifying a software application associated with the intent object of the set of intent objects; and providing the intent object and the parameter to the software application.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2023Publication date: November 16, 2023Inventors: Robert A. WALKER, II, Brandon J. NEWENDORP, Rohit DASARI, Richard D. GIULI, Thomas R. GRUBER, Carey E. RADEBAUGH, Ashish GARG, Vineet KHOSLA, Jonathan H. RUSSELL, Corey PETERSON

Publication number: 20210333122Abstract: Systems and methods for biasing reroute to a user selected alternate route or a required route segment is provided. A network system receives an origin and a destination and determines a plurality of routes to navigate from the origin to the destination. The plurality of routes includes an optimal route and an alternate route. The network system receives, from a user device, a selection of the alternate route for navigation. The network system then monitors navigation of the alternate route by a user associated with the user device and detects deviation from the alternate route. In response to the detection, the network system determines a reroute by biasing to the alternate route over the optimal route. The reroute is then presented on the user device.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2020Publication date: October 28, 2021Inventors: Karapet Shaginyan, Vineet Khosla, Joseph Barker, Rifat Berk
