Abstract: A percolating machine for producing a beverage using a sealed capsule containing anhydrous powdered material, the machine having a pressurized-hot-water dispenser assembly extending along a vertical axis, and in turn having a sprinkler having an end wall substantially crosswise to the aforementioned axis; a removable percolating cup positioned, in use, with its inlet facing the end wall, and for housing a sealed capsule positioned with a sealing wall facing the end wall; and a piercing device integral with the sprinkler and having a number of substantially rectangular-based projections, which extend downwards from the end wall of the sprinkler, are equally spaced about the aforementioned axis along a peripheral portion of the end wall, and pierce the sealing wall of the sealed capsule when the percolating cup is set to a work position contacting the sprinkler.

Abstract: In a process employing a coffee machine, a sealed capsule is fed with a certain amount of axial clearance into a cup aligned along a horizontal axis with a pressurized-hot-water sprinkler, and is moved towards the sprinkler to press an annular flange of the sealed capsule in fluidtight manner against the sprinkler, to pierce a front sealing wall of the sealed capsule by means of a first piercing device, to feed pressurized hot water through the sealing wall to expand the sealed capsule axially and eliminate the axial clearance, and to bring an end wall of the sealed capsule into fluidtight contact with a second piercing device, and pierce the end wall against the second piercing device, so that coffee flows out through the second piercing device.

Abstract: A beverage percolating machine having an outer body or casing housing a rotor, which is fitted removably to a shaft to rotate in steps about a substantially horizontal, fixed axis of rotation, and has a number of peripheral percolating cups, each for receiving a respective measure of powdered material; the outer casing has a door facing the rotor to permit access to and, if necessary, removal and/or maintenance of the rotor.
