  • Publication number: 20080142634
Abstract: A landing gear noise attenuator mitigates noise generated by airframe deployable landing gear. The noise attenuator can have a first position when the landing gear is in its deployed or down position, and a second position when the landing gear is in its up or stowed position. The noise attenuator may be an inflatable fairing that does not compromise limited space constraints associated with landing gear retraction and stowage. A truck fairing mounted under a truck beam can have a compliant edge to allow for non-destructive impingement of a deflected fire during certain conditions.

  • Patent number: 5906340
Abstract: An escape slide and life raft assembly for evacuating personnel from an aircraft, with the slide having side tubes and cross tubes along with a slide panel that extends the full length of the slide. The slide has a head end and a toe end with one of the cross tubes located at the head end defining a head end tube. A girt, secured to the aircraft, has a quick release connection to the escape slide that is actuated by a lanyard, which lanyard is also connected to a plurality of releasable straps which provide support to the slide while it is being inflated. Such releasable straps are located at the head end of the slide and interconnect the head end tube and the side tubes to the girt.

  • Patent number: 5169119
Abstract: In a mechanism designed to release a stored gas from a storage bottle. A reciprocating valve plug is held in a retracted position by a cocking arm which is in turn held in position by a lock lever which is in a lock position. A firing lanyard has an end portion connected to the lock lever such that when the firing lanyard is pulled the lock lever pivots out of contact with the cocking arm. The lock lever is urged into its lock position by a torsion spring. Once the lock lever is moved to its release position, the cocking arm is immediately urged to its release position by a torsion spring acting thereon. The cocking arm torsion spring is stronger than the lock lever torsion spring thereby enabling the cocking arm to hold itself and the lock lever in their respective release positions.

  • Patent number: 5161754
Abstract: A safety device for an aircraft inflatable escape slide which functions to prevent inadvertent inflation of the slide during shipping. The safety device incorporates a rotatable hook means which retains the firing lanyard in a fixed position and is adapted to release the firing lanyard when the slide pack covers are leased. A pair of swaged ball elements are provided on the lanyard, one on either side of the hook means.

  • Patent number: 5102176
Abstract: The base (46) of a release hook (22) is located between two side members (30, 32) of a hook guide (20). A first end of the hook base (46) carries a first slide pin (50) having end portions projecting into a two-part slot (38, 40) of the guide (20). The second end of the hook base (46) carries a second slide pin (52) having opposite end portions which are movable between the slot (38, 40) and a two-part notch (42, 44). A link (24) is pivotally connected at its first end to an arm (64), which arm (64) is a part of a rotatable member (10) and pivotally moves about a second axis (88). The second end of the link (24) is pivotally attached to the hook base (46) for pivotal movement about a third axis (106). When the second slide pin (52) is within the notch (42, 44), the release hook (22) is held against movement, and the link (24) holds the arm (64) and rotatable member (10) against rotation about a first axis (62). A release pin (24) is positioned within the hook throat (54).
