The slope of the path may be determined from data indicating a movement of the vehicle provided by sensors of a data acquisition device coupled with the vehicle. A tilt value of the data acquisition device using the sensors of the data acquisition device may also be determined. A position of the data acquisition device may be established based on the slope of the path and the tilt value of the data acquisition device.

An obstruction in the path may be detected as an object of the plurality of objects that is in the path. Also, the obstruction may be determined to be a stationary obstruction as a function of the velocity of the vehicle and multiple positions of the obstruction relative to the vehicle measured over time.
