  • Patent number: 11726503
Abstract: An implementation is for a two-phase shutoff of a device having a sensor coupled to an integral shutoff system. One example includes a metering system with a sensor coupled to an integral shutoff system, wherein the sensor is used to perform a measurement which indicates that a first threshold has been met, a first response system configured to perform at least one action with respect to receiving the indication that the first threshold was met, the at least one action occurring while the integral shutoff system remains inactivated, a second response system configured to receive an indication from the metering system, wherein the sensor is used to perform a second measurement which indicates that a second threshold has been met, and a second response system configured to perform at least one additional action.

  • Publication number: 20230125652
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed relate to method for identification of preferred binding sites on intrinsically disorganized proteins (IDPs). The present disclosure includes methods including generating an IDP ensemble comprising one or more of the IDPs, sampling ligand interactions with the IDP ensemble to produce sampled ligand interactions, subjecting each of the sampled ligand interactions to an IDP ensemble docking, producing a differential binding score (DIBS) based on the sampled ligand interactions with the IDP ensemble docking, and modeling the DIBS to identify binding sites on the IDP ensemble.

  • Publication number: 20220278378
Abstract: A battery may include a first electrode, a second electrode, an electrolyte, and at least one acoustic device configured to generate acoustic streaming during a charging and/or a discharging of the battery. The charging of the battery may trigger cations from the first electrode to travel through the electrolyte and deposit on the second electrode while the discharging of the battery may trigger cations from the second electrode to travel through the electrolyte and deposit on the first electrode. The acoustic streaming may drive a mixing and/or a turbulent flow of the electrolyte, which may increase a charge rate and/or a discharge rate of the battery by increasing diffusion rate of cations and/or anions. The mixing and/or the turbulent flow may further prevent a formation of dendrites on the first electrode and/or the second electrode by at least homogenizing a distribution of the cations and/or anions in the electrolyte.

  • Patent number: 10612071
Abstract: Non-caloric artificial sweeteners (NAS) are used as a substitute for natural sugars by providing the sweet taste. This invention measures the effects of artificial sweeteners on the enzyme kinetics of biological systems. The claimed invention is directed to a method of measuring the effect of an artificial sweetener on enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis of a sugar comprising establishing a first sugar enzymatic conversion rate, then determining a second sugar enzymatic conversion rate, and lastly comparing the first sugar enzymatic rate and the second sugar enzymatic conversion rate. The sugar enzymatic conversion rates can be measured by either nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy or a glucometer. The methodology presented may be applied to the elucidation of kinetic parameters for invertase catalyzed conversion of sucrose to glucose and fructose.

  • Patent number: 10410483
Abstract: Systems and methods for interactive emergency response systems are provided. Some methods can include retrieving a building information model of a monitored region stored in a database device, receiving real time data related to an occupant in the monitored region, receiving real time ambient condition signals from a plurality of devices in the monitored region that identify current conditions in the monitored region, dynamically generating and updating an evacuation plan for the occupant from the monitored region based on the building information model, the real time data, and the real time ambient condition signals, and dynamically transmitting a notification of the evacuation plan as updated to a user device carried the occupant for use in exiting the monitored region and moving to a safe assembly area.
