  • Patent number: 11866655
Abstract: The present invention describes a method to produce high purity hydrocarbon materials from renewable sources. The produced materials are chemically indistinguishable from highly refined mineral oils and/or synthetic hydrocarbons. These renewable hydrocarbon materials can be used as a drop-in replacement for mineral and synthetic hydrocarbon base oils, process fluids, white oils in products such as lubricants, rubber, personal care, pharma.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 22, 2022
Date of Patent: January 9, 2024
Inventors: Alexander Panov, Luther Jones, Clayton Rozic, Tyler McIntyre, Samuel Shouse, Nicholas Venturino, Vittoria Lopopolo, Gregory B. Rowat

  • Patent number: 11525100
Abstract: The incorporation of highly refined, low viscosity index base oils along with a polymeric thickener produces a final readily biodegradable fluid with a significantly high viscosity. The present invention allows the formulation of a high viscosity readily biodegradable fluid where the vast majority of the fluid is mineral oil. Previous uses of mineral oils only allowed for formulation of substantially lower viscosity readily biodegradable fluids.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 1, 2021
Date of Patent: December 13, 2022
    Assignee: PETRO-CANADA LUBRICANTS INC.
Inventors: Cecelia Dai, Vittoria Lopopolo, Atieh Ghadiri, Doug Irvine
