    Abstract: A composite wound dressing apparatus promotes healing of a wound via the use of a micropump system. The micropump system includes a micropump that applies a subatmospheric pressure to the wound to effectively draw wound fluid or exudate away from the wound bed, or deliver fluids to the wound bed, without the need for a cumbersome external pressure (e.g. vacuum) source. Hence, the wound dressing and micropump system is portable which allows the patient mobility that is unavailable when an external vacuum source is used.

The film also includes an occluding layer 54 that has a first major surface 59 and that is bound to the film body 58 but is inert to the detection layer 48 to preclude the occluding layer 54 and the chemical from causing a color change in the film body 58 in an area 42 normal to the first major surface 59 of the occluding layer 54. A sensor having this construction can provide a distinctly visible image on the sensor, which may be helpful in evaluating the remaining life of a filter cartridge.

The base layer includes either a block copolymer or random copolymer with at least two polymeric components, one of which has a glass transition temperature of at least 50 degrees Celsius and the other of which has a glass transition temperature no greater than 20 degrees Celsius. These articles provide excellent optical clarity, non-corrosiveness, ultraviolet light stability, and resistance to outdoor weathering conditions compared to conventional reflective films.
