Abstract: A new pharmaceutical composition consisting of an oral aqueous suspension for the prevention and treatment of gastric ulcers and colon cancer is disclosed, as well as the procedure for preparing it. This suspension is characterized by containing a purified extract with fatty alcohols from beeswax, microcrystalline cellulose and excipients accepted by the pharmaceutical industry. The method of preparing this suspension is characterized in that the fatty alcohol extract is subjected to a process of particle size reduction to <1.5 micrometers in the presence of an emulsifying agent at >1000 rpm; the mixture of said active ingredient with microcrystalline cellulose in the proportion and concentration in which they are formulated, makes these components act synergistically, conferring powerful antiulcer and chemoprotective effects to this composition.

Abstract: This invention is related to the obtainment of a new active ingredient and its obtaining process from green or ripe fruits of both Acrocomia crispa and Acrocomia aculeata species of the Arecaceae family. Such active ingredient can be used as nutritional supplement, cosmetic-therapeutic formulations, or as pharmaceutical compositions for preventing and/or treating inflammatory processes and oxidative stress, and includes a mixture of fatty acids from 6 to 28 carbon atoms (free and/or as acylglycerols or ethyl esters), mainly those saturated of linear chain with 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 carbon atoms, and those unsaturated of 16 and 18 carbon atoms, and that may also contain sterols and fatty alcohols.

Abstract: The invention relates to a novel pharmaceutical composition and to the method of producing same from the fruits of the royal palm (Roystonea regia) in order to prevent and/or treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis as well as alopecia and hirsutism. The inventive composition comprises a mixture of free fatty acids and/or the esters thereof, within a range of between 8 and 28 carbon atoms, in particular between 8 and 18 carbon atoms, and, more specifically, saturated straight-chain free fatty acids with 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 carbon atoms and mono-unsaturated free fatty acids with 16:1 and 18:1 carbon atoms. The inventive method of producing the aforementioned composition comprises the drying and crushing of the fruits, with optional basic hydrolysis, and, subsequently, selective extraction in organic solvents.
