Patent number: 9451471Abstract: A method for determining a cell placement efficiency number for a wireless cell by computing a first radius R1, wherein the first radius R1 defines a first region that comprises a first threshold TH1 of the total cell traffic. A second radius R2 is computed, wherein the second radius R2 defines a second region that comprises a second threshold TH2 of the total cell traffic. A cell placement efficiency value is then computed using R1 and R2.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2014Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: Tektronix Texas, LLCInventors: Stefan Scheinert, Vladan Jovanovic

Patent number: 9037142Abstract: A method for estimating how best to position a new cell within an existing overloaded cell that is running out of capacity in a wireless network so as to optimize the offloading of capacity from the overloaded cell includes: filtering call records to keep calls made during a selected capacity planning interval calls and performing one or more of sending data to the overloaded cell and receiving data from the overloaded cell; geo-locating the sending and receiving calls; calculating one or more resource utilization values for one or more geo-located sending and receiving calls; and determining coordinates for an optimum new cell location so as to optimize the offloading of capacity from the existing overloaded cell.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2013Date of Patent: May 19, 2015Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: Vladan Jovanovic, Stefan Scheinert

Patent number: 8874172Abstract: A wireless communication system (20) includes an ability to discern whether an end of a communication link between a mobile station (22) and a base station (26) corresponds to the mobile station (22) tuning away from a first service to a second, different service. In a disclosed example, a radio network controller (28) includes a link monitoring portion that uses information regarding the mobile station from the second service to determine a pattern of expected tune aways by the mobile station to the second service. In one disclosed example, the link monitoring portion uses observed mobile station behavior to estimate the pattern of expected tune aways. Whenever an end of a communication link with the mobile station corresponds to an expected tune away, that end is not considered for purposes of service measurement parameters.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2005Date of Patent: October 28, 2014Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Frances Jiang, Vladan Jovanovic, Yang Yang

Patent number: 8606275Abstract: A method for identifying a missing neighbor in a wireless network includes receiving a report about two or more pilot signals measured by a mobile station; determining that one or more of the reported pilot signals is a missing neighbor not comprised in a current neighbor list of the mobile station; choosing one or more candidate sectors having a pilot signal with the same pilot identity as the missing neighbor; and selecting a most likely sector as the missing neighbor from the one or more candidate sectors, based on calculated distances between the mobile station and a source sector, between the mobile station and at least one of the one or more candidate sectors, and between the source sector and at least one of the one or more candidate sectors, so as to identify the missing neighbor in the wireless network.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2012Date of Patent: December 10, 2013Assignee: Newfield WirelessInventors: Vladan Jovanovic, David William Kleinbeck

Patent number: 8351943Abstract: In response to a determination that a received pilot signal identification is not present in a current neighbor list of a mobile station, a network controller identifies one of a plurality of sectors associated with the missing pilot signal identification that is a most likely handoff candidate. In one embodiment, the most likely handoff candidate is determined as the sector that is closest to the mobile station. When the most likely candidate is identified, a handoff may be initiated between the mobile station and the identified sector. The handoff may be accomplished by activating a traffic channel for the mobile station in the identified sector.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2006Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventor: Vladan Jovanovic

Publication number: 20070156568Abstract: A method for enforcement of trading limits for groups of traders. Each trader's workstation periodically transmits information on the trader's outstanding and executed orders to a risk management workstation. The risk management workstation aggregates this information for the traders in the group and returns this global information periodically to each trader's workstation. When a trader wishes to transmit an order to buy or sell a commodity to an exchange, the trader's workstation determines whether the trade will cause trading limit thresholds to be exceeded, based on the updated information at the trader's workstation. If trading limits would be exceeded, the trader's workstation prevents submission of the order. If trading limits are met, the workstation submits the trade order to the exchange. Thus, bottlenecks caused by centralized trading limit enforcement techniques may be avoided.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2006Publication date: July 5, 2007Inventors: Vladan Jovanovic, Richard Lane, Veselin Stanic, Adnan Beganovic

Publication number: 20070061233Abstract: A method for trading securities. A trader generates a variable derivative product order that identifies at least a derivative product, an underlying financial product or instrument, a pricing formula, and values of price determination variables needed by the pricing formula to establish a price for the derivative. The variable product order is transmitted electronically to an exchange. The exchange calculates the offered price of the derivative using a value of the underlying product and publishes offers to potential traders. The offered price is recalculated as the value of the underlying products changes and republished to potential traders. Trades may then be executed based on the offered prices. Hedging trades may be executed in combination with trades made based on the variable derivative product orders.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2005Publication date: March 15, 2007Inventors: Vladan Jovanovic, Veselin Stanic, Richard Lane, Adnan Beganovic
