  • Patent number: 11041407
Abstract: A turbocharger includes a turbine with a housing and a rotor for expanding a first medium; a compressor with a housing and a rotor for compressing a second medium utilizing energy extracted in the turbine during expansion of the first medium. A housing surrounds the turbine housing and/or the compressor housing and/or the bearing housing at least in sections, which housing is at least formed from a first housing section and a second housing section, which are connected to one another via screw connections. On the first housing section, shearing force absorption elements are formed or fastened which extend through the second housing section and in the event that shearing forces occur, absorb the shearing forces and thus relieve the screw connections of the shearing forces.

  • Patent number: 10876427
Abstract: A turbine for a turbocharger, for expanding a medium, with a turbine rotor, having a turbine housing with an insert piece, which runs radially outside of the adjoining blades of the turbine rotor. The insert piece at an upstream end, includes a first flange and a second flange at a downstream end. The insert piece, in a middle section, which extends between the first flange and the second flange, has an approximately constant thickness.

  • Publication number: 20200240426
Abstract: A turbocharger, having a turbine with a turbine housing and a turbine rotor, (a compressor with a compressor housing and a compressor rotor that is coupled to the turbine rotor via a shaft, a bearing housing arranged between the turbine housing and the compressor housing, in which the shaft is mounted via a bearing. An end disc adjoins the bearing ring or the bearing bush. On an axial surface facing the bearing ring or the bearing bush of the bearing facing the turbine, a swirl chamber that is open in the direction of the bearing ring or the bearing bush is introduced into the end disc, which collects and discharges oil leaking from a lubrication gap of the bearing.

  • Publication number: 20200157968
Abstract: A burst protection device is provided for a radial turbocharger having a turbine housing completely enclosing a turbine wheel rotatably arranged in the turbine housing, and turbine housing inner wall. The burst protection device is annularly arranged in the radial turbocharger about a central axis (A) in a circumferential direction on the turbine housing inner wall, so as to at least partly engage about the turbine wheel. The burst protection device defines at least one recess/hollow space. The at least one recess/hollow space is configured such that kinetic energy of fragments of the turbine wheel produced upon bursting of the turbine wheel is absorbed by the burst protection device based on plastic deformation of the at least one recess/hollow space, a first one of the at least one recess/hollow space being unilaterally open in a direction of the turbine housing.
