  • Patent number: 10634339
Abstract: Disclosed is a Once-Through Steam Generator (OTSG) coil (52) and method, comprising a plurality of vertically arranged serpentine conduits (90) in a horizontal heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) that replaces a traditional natural circulation HP evaporator for producing supercritical steam. The OTSG comprises a lower equalization header system (130) that promotes system stability in multiple operating conditions. The equalization header allows a partial flow of fluid from the lower serpentine curved flow path (120) through an equalization conduit (125) into the equalization header (130) Disclosed also are: a flow restriction device in serpentine conduits; drainage structure from serpentine conduits through the equalization header, a drainage expansion section to accommodate stresses, and drainage bypass connections; and flow through serpentine conduits in upstream and downstream directions, mixed flow directions and longitudinally staggered directions.

  • Patent number: 9909462
Abstract: A duct burner assembly for a HRSG having a casing that defines a combustion chamber with a liner for communicating an exhaust gas. A firing runner attaches to the liner and extends through the combustion chamber. The firing runner defines a plurality of orifices for emitting combustible gas and sustaining a flame. A flame stabilizer attaches to the firing runner and is configured to at least partially shield the plurality of orifices from the exhaust gas. A guide plate attaches to the firing runner and is configured to define a slot between the liner and the guide plate. The guide plate has an upstream end and a downstream end wherein the downstream end is closer to the lining than the upstream end to control turbulent flow of the exhaust gas through the slot and cool the liner. To reduce generation of flow turbulence the tubes within the slot are covered with streamline plates. It allows to decrease a mixing between hot and cold gas flows and improve the liner cooling.

  • Publication number: 20160102926
Abstract: The present invention discloses improved heated surfaces (HS) with vertical multiple passage panels or vertical serpentine coils from straight tubes with connections between them by top and bottom bends. In HS with tube bends there is not any mixing headers—each circuit has a single tube from inlet header to outlet header. This increases mass velocity of flow and improves stability and temperature regulation of tubes. The bottom bends have holes. The bottom bend holes of the adjacent passes are connected with drain header by drain stubs. Each header serves to drain the adjacent tube passes and as equalizing header of pressure/flow. It will help to decrease multivaluedness and maldistribution of flow between parallel tubes of the module. Such design of HS noticeably decreases the corrosion of tubes.
