  • Patent number: 5667852
Abstract: The invention relates to electronics and optical industry technology. Deposition of diamond and diamond-like films is performed in a plasma flux at atmospheric pressure at a temperature T=10.sup.4 .degree. K. A mixture of hydrocarbons and hydrogen is fed to a plasma flux formed by the confluence of a plurality of jets. As a result of the processes occurring in the plasma flux, there is deposited on the substrate a diamond or diamond-like film having a high degree of adhesion to the substrate, at a rate of 1 micron/sec, which substantially exceeds the rate of deposition of similar films by known methods.

  • Patent number: 5610477
Abstract: A low breakdown voltage gas discharge device includes an envelope filled with an appropriately selected working substance. Two main electrodes are sealed in a vacuum-tight manner inside the envelope, and are separated by a predetermined distance. A supplemental electrode extends between the main electrodes along the direction of the electrical discharge, and has its geometrical and electrical parameters satisfy the following equation:S=I.sub.d /C,where S is the surface area of the supplemental electrode and depends on the distance between the main electrodes, I.sub.d is the current flowing in the supplemental electrode during normal glow discharge, and C is a constant characterizing the current I.sub.d, the composition of the supplemental electrode, and the type and pressure of the working substance. The supplemental electrode is connected to an AC or DC power source via a switch, so that the supplemental electrode always acts as a preparatory glow discharge cathode.

  • Patent number: 4576824
Abstract: A process for maturing strong beverages comprising activation of an oak stave after separation of a matured strong beverage therefrom by a cyclic application of a multimode electromagnetic field of standing waves with a frequency of from 2,000 to 4,500 MHz thereto to a heating temperature of from 35.degree. to 55.degree. C. At the same time, an oxygen-containing medium is purged. As a result of the cyclic application of the multimode electromagnetic field the stave releases the spirit vapors in a residual content thereof ranging from 5 to 10%. Between cycles of application of the multimode electromagnetic field the stave is cooled to a temperature of 15.degree. to 25.degree. C. by means of an oxygen-containing medium. The spirit vapors are entrained by the oxygen-containing medium and condensed. The strong beverage is kept in the activated oak stave. The matured strong beverage is then from the stave.

  • Patent number: 4294433
Abstract: A method for processing heavy nonferrous metal raw materials by heating and melting said raw materials in a molten slag with the formation of a heterogeneous melt consisting of a sulfide and an oxide phases. The melt is bubbled oxidized by injecting a gas containing not less than 35% oxygen at an intensity of about 200 to about 2000 m.sup.3 STP/h per square meter of horizontal section of the melt, with the effect that the melt is divided into a top bubbled part and a bottom calm part comprising a slag layer, a matte layer and/or a crude metal layer, each of which is tapped separately. A furnace for putting said method into effect is a shaft terminating in its bottom part by a hearth and having devices for tapping smelting products, whereas the top part is provided with orifices for feeding a charge and removing gaseous smelting products. The furnace has cooled side tuyeres set at a level dividing the shaft into two vertical parts.
