  • Patent number: 5909751
Abstract: An automatic cable tie installation tool includes a frame supporting a handle and a manual trigger. A movable jaw is provided to grasp a bundle of cables which are to be tied with ties straps. Actuation of the trigger operates the jaw to move the jaw into engagement with the bundle of cables. The tool provides for accommodation of a symmetrical cable tie strap and also provides for the orientation of the cable tie strap so that the strap can be properly bundled around the group of cables supported within the jaw. The tool provides for proper tensioning of the cable tie around the bundle of cables and for repeated application of cable ties around the bundle of cables within a short period of time.

  • Patent number: 4699441
Abstract: A one-piece terminal having a contact portion (13) extending from a channel section wire connecting portion (11). Limbs (17, 17') extend toward each other from opposite axial ends of the sidewalls (15, 15') with opposed edges defining between them a wire receiving slot (26), a portion (22, 22') of each sidewall (15, 15') adjacent a limb (17, 17') being inclined inwardly of the channel as it extends away from the base (14) and towards the limb (17, 17') to provide a stiffly compliant slot (19). A panel (25) upstands from the base (14) between the sidewalls (15, 15') to provide sealant barrier and a rigid slot (26) aligned with the compliant slot (19). Extensions of the sidewalls (33, 33') are secured together by ties (34, 35).

  • Patent number: 4552260
Abstract: The machine comprises a guideway 12 extending past a series of work stations 13, 13' and supporting a series of pairs of pallets 14, 14' carrying connectors 15, 15'. A return guideway 16 supporting empty, returning pallets extends under the guideway 12. Forward and return pallet indexing mechanisms 17 and 17' are carried by pallet lifts 18 and 18' movable between entry and exit ends of the respective upper and lower guideways (12, 16) to carry pallets (14, 14') between the guideways and to enable the indexing mechanism 17 and 17' to feed the pallets alternately onto the entry ends of the upper and lower guideways and receive expelled pallets (14, 14') from the exit ends thereof. Pilot mechanisms 21, 21' are arranged for vertical reciprocation into engagement with leading and trailing pallets (14, 14') on the upper and lower guideways (12, 16) alternately to confine the pallets (14, 14') together on the guideways (12, 16) in between operation of the forward and return indexing mechanisms 17 and 17'.

  • Patent number: 4428114
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making modular electrical harnesses in which, in a first operating zone, a leading end of a wire extending from a wire supply is terminated in a preselected terminal of a row of terminals in a first connector part further wire is fed from the supply to form a trailing loop and the trailing end of the wire is terminated in a preselected terminal of a row of terminals in a second connector part in end-to-end relation with the first connector part and severed from the supply. The connector parts are fed in end-to-end relation along a path extending through several such operating zones progressively to connect all the preselected terminals of the first connector part to all preselected terminals of the second connector parts by respective wire loops. A wire holding head in each zone provides an operable loop forming track.

  • Patent number: 4285562
Abstract: A modular harness in which a series of conductors are terminated at opposite ends by identical connectors which are each adapted for connection alternatively to a printed circuit or tabs. The connectors may comprise a housing base having a longitudinally extending slot in a contact face communicating with two rows of longitudinally staggered terminal receiving compartments. The terminals preferably have contact portions with opposed spring arms to grip a tab between them, one arm being bent away from the other arm intermediate its ends to provide a contact surface for a printed circuit at the bend. The other arm may constitute a back-up spring during contact by the one arm with a printed circuit.

  • Patent number: 4208080
Abstract: A junction box comprising a rigid insulating housing with spaced opposed faces having pairs of aligned terminal-receiving apertures, a stack of terminal boards sandwiched between the faces of the housing, each terminal board comprising a metal sheet laminated with an insulating sheet, the metal sheet being divided into areas defining discrete current paths and being perforated at locations in alignment with the terminal-receiving apertures where contact with the metal sheet is not required.Terminals having contact portions and post portions are staked through the aligned housing apertures and stacked terminal boards, the post piercing the metal sheets at unperforated locations at various levels in the stack to effect contact therewith.
