  • Patent number: 9718120
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a composite component (12). At least one shaft (2) and at least one sintered part (1), preferably in the form of a rotor or a cam, are assembled into the composite component. In order to assemble the composite component, at least the following steps are carried out: —introducing the shaft (2) into a continuous bore (3) of the sintered part (1) and —calibrating the sintered part (1) at least by means of a calibrating die (4), furthermore preferably with the simultaneous application of an axial force onto the sintered part (1) by means of at least one upper punch (5) and at least one lower punch (7), wherein the shaft (2) can be found in the bore (3) of the sintered part (1) at least temporarily during the calibration process. The invention further relates to a composite component (12).

  • Patent number: 7524352
Abstract: Certain preferred embodiments of the present invention relate to compositions for the production of sintered molded parts, components/parts produced therefrom, and methods for preparing such compositions. In accordance with certain embodiments, compositions for production of sintered molded parts comprise a metal-based, a ceramic-based, and/or a polymer-based powder, and a compaction aid, having 25 to 60 weight percent of a polyglycol, based on the total weight of the compaction aid, and 40 to 75 weight percent of a montan wax, based on the total weight of the compaction aid. The compaction aid may be present in an amount from about 0.1 to 5 weight percent, preferably 0.5 to 1.5 weight percent, based on the total weight of the composition. The composition may also include a lubricant such as, for example, MoS2, WS2, BN, MnS, and/or carbon.

  • Publication number: 20070259199
Abstract: Certain preferred embodiments of the present invention provide an oil pump which is both light as well as compact. Accordingly, certain presently preferred embodiments disclose an oil pump having a housing comprising aluminum, and at least one mobile molded part therein. The mobile molded part being at least partially made from a sinterable composition comprising at least one austenitic iron-based alloy powder. The mobile molded part also has a heat expansion coefficient, which amounts to at least 60% of the heat expansion coefficient for the oil pump housing.

  • Publication number: 20050036899
Abstract: The present invention relates to sintered components and methods for preparing sintered components, which include the steps of introducing a sinterable material into a first mold, pressing the sinterable material to form a green compact; partially post-compressing the green compact in a second press mold, and, sintering the green compact. The density of the post-compressed green compact is greater than the density prior to compression.

  • Publication number: 20050034559
Abstract: The present invention relates to sinterable powder compositions, sintered components produced therefrom, and methods for prepared such components. Sinterable powder compositions are composed of an aluminum-based powder, and a first metal powder comprising molybdenum and/or tungsten. The aluminum based powder is composed of aluminum and magnesium, silicon, copper, zinc, titanium, tin, manganese, nickel, or combinations thereof. In another embodiment, the sinterable powder composition includes a second metal powder comprising copper, tin, zinc, lithium, magnesium, or combination thereof. The sinterable powder compositions may be used for the production of sintered components, including composite components, having not only sufficient strength values but also with high hardness.

  • Patent number: 5551782
Abstract: A component made from a preform made of a first material and having a bearing seat defining a bearing seat surface, and a method of producing the component. The component includes a bearing cap portion, and a remainder portion split from the bearing cap portion and adapted to mate therewith. The method comprises the step of coating the bearing seat surface of the preform with a second material different from the first material for providing a bearing layer made of the second material on the bearing seat surface, the bearing layer having a running face. The step of coating includes the step of thermal spraying the second material on the bearing seat surface. The preform is separated into the bearing cap portion and the remainder portion. The bearing layer is split by fracture separation at a separation region of the bearing layer into a bearing cap bearing layer portion corresponding to the bearing cap portion, and a remainder bearing layer portion corresponding to the remainder portion.
