Patent number: 9695569Abstract: A device for sealing the opening of a manhole. The device includes a seal coupled to a lid; a valve; and a compression inducing device. The lid is set within an existing manhole frame and operates without modification. The seal is coupled to a lower surface of the lid and contacts a lip within the frame. The seal is compressed to the lip and the compression inducing device is used to grip the frame below the lip to maintain the compressive state of the seal. The manhole cover is placed on top of the lid. Gases escape through the valve. Water or moisture is prevented from passing through the seal or valve. One or more grooves or ribs are optionally included to create a gap between the lid and the manhole cover for the routing of released gases.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2016Date of Patent: July 4, 2017Inventor: Roger W. Patent number: 8113040Abstract: A runout gauge includes a stand (such as a tripod), and a gauge bar pivotally mounted on the stand. The gauge bar includes a wheel on its upper end positioned above the pivot for rollingly engaging an outer surface of a vehicle tire, and further includes a pointer located a greater second distance below the pivot. By this arrangement, movement of the wheel on the tire due to runout causes the pointer to move along an amplified path having a length greater than the movement of the wheel, thus making it easier to read. The illustrated stand includes indicia for measuring movement of the pointer, and also includes gauge slides on a frame component that abut the pointer in a manner showing an extent of the pointer's movement, which relates to the runout on the tire.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2010Date of Patent: February 14, 2012Assignee: K-Line Industries, Inc.Inventors: Dwain L. Kamphuis, Thomas W. Knowles, II

Patent number: 7308522Abstract: A method of enforcing the ordering of read and write transactions for an adapter unit connected to a strongly-ordered bus. The adapter unit has a set of read buffers and write buffers. Initiator write transactions and target read completion transactions are performed on the bus in the original order in which the transactions are received. An initiator read transaction request is enqueued in the read buffer but selectively awaits the performance of one or more pending initiator write transactions in the write buffer before the read transaction request is presented to the bus. In this way, initiator write transactions on which the read transaction request depends and pending in the write buffer are retired to the bus before the initiator read transaction request is performed, thus assuring that the initiator read transaction request is not performed ahead of the initiator write transaction on which the read transaction request depends.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2004Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Tom A. Patent number: 7055741Abstract: An inventory management system utilizes unattended facilities remote from a central warehouse for service parts logistics. Items are placed in inventory in secure enclosures at the unattended facilities by the inventory management service or are delivered directly to the unattended facility. The unattended facilities may be located near one or more customers to reduce a service technician's travel time and customers' inventory costs. A service technician utilizes a passcode to retrieve needed items. The service technician may order items that are not kept in the inventory of the unattended facility in which case the items may be delivered to the unattended facility and the service technician may receive a notification related to all the items that comprise an order that the order is ready for pick up at an unattended facility.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2004Date of Patent: June 6, 2006Assignee: United Parcel Service of America, Inc.Inventors: Juwono W. Bong, Clyde W. Knowles, Douglas David Fratt, Robert F. Joyce

Patent number: 7001121Abstract: A trimmer is provided for trimming a newly-installed sleeve liner after the liner is positioned in a cylinder bore of a combustion engine component. The trimmer includes a trimming cutter adapted to shave off a protruding end of the newly-installed sleeve liner, and a tool holder shaped to stably engage the combustion engine component. The tool holder operably supports the trimming tool for rotation collinearly with a centerline of the cylinder bore and for limited longitudinal movement when the tool holder is attached to the combustion engine component. A tie-down device engages the tool holder and secures the trimmer to the engine component. A venturi suction arrangement is connectable to shop compressed air to remove and includes a suction input adjacent the cutter for collecting all chips and debris from the trimming operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2004Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: K-Line Industries, Inc.Inventors: Dwain L. Kamphuis, Thomas W. Knowles, II

Publication number: 20050279934Abstract: A charged particle beam system uses an ion generator for charge neutralization. In some embodiments, the ion generator is configured to maintain an adequate gas pressure at the ion generator to generate ions, but a reduced pressure in the remainder of the vacuum chamber, so that another column can operate in the chamber either simultaneously or after an evacuation process that is much shorter than a process that would be required to evacuate the chamber from the full pressure required at the ion generator. The invention is particularly useful for repair of photolithography masks in a dual beam system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2004Publication date: December 22, 2005Applicant: FEI CompanyInventors: Diane Stewart, W. Publication number: 20050027648Abstract: A transaction process system (10) provides for data transactions between parties. In a credit card transaction, the parties are the merchant (20), acquiring bank (24), card association (34), issuing bank (14), and cardholder (12). A transaction processing center (30) is positioned between the acquiring bank and the card association. The transaction processing center provides data processing channels for message-based processing (72) and filed-based processing (76). The file-based processing uses an incoming queue (80) and outgoing queue (84) to simplify the interface. The transaction processing center also provides for currency conversions and account reconciliation on a per transaction basis. The transaction processing center uses a scheduler (160) to efficiently manage the data processing resources and an account reconciliation processor (200) to identify discrepancies and initiate corrective action.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2003Publication date: February 3, 2005Inventors: W. Publication number: 20040267640Abstract: An unattended distribution facility and an unattended returns facility are incorporated into or are proximate to an attended distribution and return facility operated by an inventory management service. The unattended distribution facility and unattended returns facility are accessible by customers at times when the attended distribution and return facility are unavailable or at times when long waits are required to receive or return items at the attended distribution and return facility because of the number of customers simultaneously trying to obtain or return items. An embodiment includes incorporating the unattended returns facility into the unattended distribution facility. An unattended distribution facility's electronic control system is integrated into an inventory management system used by the inventory management service so that the location of items placed in the unattended distribution facility may be monitored and information about the item may be updated when it is picked up by a customer.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2003Publication date: December 30, 2004Applicant: United Parcel Service of America, Inc.Inventors: Juwono W.
