  • Patent number: 11776690
Abstract: A decision support tool is provided for predicting uterine contractions. The predicted contractions are determined from measurements of uterine activity (UA). The contraction forecast may be made using a plurality of trained predictive models. The forecasts are formed with linear regressive models based, at least in part, on UA data from a reference population. The predicted contractions may be predictions of contraction duration, contraction peak, and time between contractions. In this way, these predicted contractions may be used for decision support for care plans during labor, such as increased monitoring and/or modifying the care plan.

  • Patent number: 11717234
Abstract: A decision support tool is provided for predicting the neonatal vitality scores of a fetus during delivery, the scores being an indicator of future health for the infant anticipated to be born within a future time interval, measured as time to birth. The predicted neonatal vitality score is determined from measurements of physiological variables monitored during labor, such as uterine activity and fetal heart rate. Fetal heart rate variability and patterns may be detected and computed using the monitored physiological variables, and neonatal vitality scores may be predicted based, at least in part, on the variability metrics and fetal heart rate patterns. Scores may be predicted for different delivery methods, such as vaginal delivery or cesarean delivery, for different time-to-birth intervals. In this way, these scores may be used for decision support for care plans during labor, such as increased monitoring and/or modifying the delivery type.

  • Publication number: 20190139644
Abstract: A decision support tool is provided for predicting uterine contractions. The predicted contractions are determined from measurements of uterine activity (UA). The contraction forecast may be made using a plurality of trained predictive models. In one aspect, the forecast is formed with an ensemble of neural network ARIMA models trained using the patient's UA data. Each model within the ensemble may be trained using a different combination of training parameters for the patient's UA data to predict a set of UA measurements for the future time interval. At least some of the sets of UA measurements predicted by the ensemble may be used to form a primary UA forecast for the patient. The predicted contractions may be used for decision support for care plans during labor, such as increased monitoring and/or modifying the care plan.

  • Patent number: 8384562
Abstract: A mobile traffic controller to aid pedestrians includes a wireless transmitter and receiver that are configured to communicate with a traffic signal or a traffic control system. In response to a user request, the transmitter sends a traffic control request to a traffic signal or a traffic system controller. The request is acknowledged, and when appropriate, the mobile traffic controller receives a message indicating that a crossing is authorized. The mobile controller can include a vibro-tactile or audio output device for communication with the user. In addition, position and orientation systems can be included so that the user can be directed along a preferred path or alerted that a predetermined or legally established passage zone has been exited or is about to be exited.

  • Patent number: 8235151
Abstract: A return to neutral control mechanism for a zero turning radius mower is disclosed. The return to neutral control mechanism includes a pair of control levers pivotable between forward, neutral and reverse positions. A brake pedal is moveable between a disengaged position to an engaged position. In response to engagement of the brake pedal, a control pivot attached to each control lever moves each control lever to the neutral position. The return to neutral control mechanism may include a cam that rotates in response to engagement of the brake pedal, and a control pivot that follows the cam during engagement of the brake pedal.

  • Patent number: 8062140
Abstract: A power transmission section particularly adapted for use in a downhole drilling system. A drive shaft is pivotally connected to input and output end connection members with pivot balls therebetween to allow pivoting of the shaft ends relative to the input and output end connection members. A plurality of ball segments having one spherically-curved surface are provided at each end of the drive shaft to engage with the input and output connection members and to transmit torque between the shaft ends and the input and output end connection members, regardless of the angular variation between the drive shaft longitudinal axis and the longitudinal axes of the input and output end connection members.

  • Patent number: 7569971
Abstract: An in-line SAW resonator employs an asymmetric adjustment of the Bragg frequencies of the left outer reflector and right outer reflector where the degree of periodicity shift and the relative direction of the frequency shift are calculated to move the peaks of the acoustic standing wave trapped between the gratings to coincide with the optimized centers of transduction of one or more interdigital transducers (IDTs) without the need for undesirable breaks in the periodicity or the use of reflectionless IDTs.

  • Patent number: 7560673
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling agricultural pests in soil using microwave energy. The apparatus is an agricultural implement having a means for directing a layer of soil from the ground onto a conveyor which carries the soil through a microwave energy application area, and then disperses the soil back onto the ground. The microwave energy heats the soil to a desired temperature which destroys weeds, seeds, and insects in the soil.
