    Abstract: A shut-off device for a pipe in a pipeline for operation in response to ingress of water, has a valve for installation in a pipe of the pipeline. The valve has a valve member moving between an open position, when the valve is open, to permit passage of fluid through the pipe, and a closed position, when the valve is closed, to shut off a passage extending through the pipe. A buoyant member associated with the valve member moves the valve member to the closed position automatically in the presence of ingress water in the vicinity of the buoyant member.
