  • Patent number: 4251021
Abstract: In one preferred embodiment, a lid for a polygonal container, such lid having a polygonal top panel corresponding in shape and size to the opening at the top of the polygonal container, such top panel hingedly connected to a plurality of lid side panels at each of the sides of the polygonal top panel, each lid side panel disposable downwardly to abut the lid side panels in substantially contacting relationship at the edge portions thereof, each lid side panel having a securement panel hingedly connected at the lower edge thereof, and a plurality of locking panels hingedly connected to the lid side panels and having a locking protrusion at the upper edge thereof for engaging with the securement panel of the lid side panel.

  • Patent number: 4205775
Abstract: Polygonal containers of the present invention include a container sides assembly and a container bottom assembly which are adapted for interlocking engagement. The container sides assembly has a plurality of generally rectangular side panels hingedly interconnected to form an enclosure defining the sides of the polygonal container.A plurality of lower edge flaps are hingedly connected to the lower edge of the rectangular side panels and are adapted for folding upwardly and inside the enclosure to interlockingly receive corresponding elements from the container bottom assembly. The container bottom assembly has a polygonal bottom panel having sides equal in number to the rectangular side panels and are of such a size to fit snugly within the container sides assembly when in assembled configuration for forming the container bottom.

  • Patent number: 4166568
Abstract: A polygonal container having a container sides assembly and a separate container bottom assembly, which is adapted for interlocking engagement with the container sides assembly at a lower portion thereof thereby to form the container bottom. The container sides assembly is foldably formed from a unitary blank of relatively rigid but foldable material and has a plurality of generally rectangular side panels hingedly interconnected to form an enclosure defining the sides of the polygonal container. A plurality of lower edge flaps are hingedly connected to the lower edge of the rectangular side panels and are adapted for folding upwardly and inside the enclosure to interlockingly receive corresponding elements of the container bottom assembly.

  • Patent number: 4099664
Abstract: The bottom securement device is utilized with a polygonal carton constructed from unitary blank of material and having a plurality of side panels and a bottom formed from a plurality of triangularly shaped bottom panels equal in number to the side panels with each bottom panel being hingedly connected to one of the side panels and inclining upwardly from the bottom edge of the side panel to which it is connected. A reinforcing rib is hingedly interconnected between abutting side edges of adjacent bottom panels and extends generally downwardly from the abutting edges of the adjacent bottom panels. The securement device can take one of several forms and is designed to engage the reinforcing ribs thereby to secure them in place and thereby secure the bottom panels in place. One securement device comprises an annular ring which is received in slots in the reinforcing ribs.

  • Patent number: 4065047
Abstract: The polygonal carton is constructed from a unitary blank of stiff but foldable material and has a reinforced bottom. The blank includes two blank portions divided into at least two, rectangular, side-forming panels. A rectangular webbing is hingedly connected to each blank along a side thereof which is perpendicular to a score line separating the side-forming panels. A line separates the webbings and a portion of the blank along that line is cut and another portion of the blank along that line is scored to form a fold line between the webbings. Each webbing has a plurality of triangular bottom-forming panels therein, each hingedly connected to one of the side-forming panels and a plurality of webs, each extending between and hingedly interconnecting an adjacent pair of bottom-forming panels. Each web has a fold line therein. When the blank is folded into a carton, each web is folded approximately 180.degree.

  • Patent number: 3977594
Abstract: A polygonal carton constructed from a unitary blank of stiff but foldable material and having a strong, weight supporting bottom. The carton has a plurality of side panels and a concave bottom. The bottom is formed from a plurality of triangularly shaped bottom panels equal in number to the side panels. Each bottom panel is hingedly connected to one of the side panels and inclines upwardly from the bottom edge of the side panel to the center of the carton bottom. A foldable web is hingedly connected to and between the abuting side edges of adjacent bottom panels. Each web is folded into a reinforcing rib above or below the carton bottom. The ribs hold the panels in place as and when a load is placed on the bottom and the load is supported, at least in part, by the locking and bearing engagement between abuting side edges of adjacent bottom panels.
