  • Patent number: 4266837
Abstract: Structure for mounting an ice maker in an insulated cabinet having an outer rigid metal shell. The mounting structure includes a support fixedly secured to the shell and defining a mounting portion disposed within a refrigerated chamber of the cabinet. The ice making apparatus is mounted to the support to be disposed within the refrigerated chamber. The shell includes turned flange portions to which the support is removably secured in one embodiment of the invention. The support may be defined by a plurality of rails having securing portions secured to the shell. Connecting portions may be arranged to extend from the securing portions to dispose the mounting portion of the support within the refrigerated chamber. The ice making apparatus may include a plurality of components such as an ice slab forming component and an ice slab dividing component. The support is arranged to mount the components in opposite association within the refrigerated chamber.

  • Patent number: 4228923
Abstract: An ice maker dispenser structure wherein a removable chute is provided as a portion of a discharge duct leading from a discharge opening in a collecting bin for storing a plurality of discrete ice bodies to be dispensed. An agitator is disposed within the collecting bin adjacent the discharge opening and is operated to agitate the ice bodies adjacent the opening when a closure member is removed from the opening to effect the dispensing operation. An interlock is provided for preventing movement of the closure member away from the discharge opening in the event the chute is removed from the ice maker such as for servicing of the chute, thereby preventing injury to the user's fingers which may inadvertently be passed inwardly through the discharge opening into contact with the operating agitator.

  • Patent number: 4198831
Abstract: An ice maker having structure for forming an ice column which is passed through a constricting nozzle. A delivery structure is arranged to receive the ice column and cause selectively the shearing of the ice column into full sized ice bodies, approximately half size ice bodies, or cracked ice. The delivery structure may include a breaker tube having an inwardly directed projection and defining a deflecting structure for shearing the ice at preselected intervals. The delivery structure may further include a selectively installable adapter defining a second inwardly directed projection for causing shearing of the ice column at preselected intervals less than that effected by the projection in the breaker tube. A blade may be removably associated with the adapter for selectively causing shattering of the ice column so as to form cracked ice, when desired. An extension tube may be associated with the breaker tube for delivering the ice bodies and cracked ice in any direction from the ice maker.

  • Patent number: 4087143
Abstract: A door construction for a cabinet such as an ice maker cabinet. The door includes a panel which is reinforced by a framework, with a portion of the door being clamped between a portion of the framework and a support rail. Hinge pins are provided on the cabinet and the door is supported on the pins solely by the rails at opposite sides of the door in the selective positioning of the door in both open and closed positions. The door is adapted for facilitated installation and removal for facilitated servicing of the ice maker. The door manipulating handle is effectively connected to the mounting rails through the clamped door portion. A front decorative panel is secured to the door by side trim elements sandwiched between the side rails and the inner door panel.
