  • Patent number: 4010867
Abstract: A two-piece can and method for making the same wherein the cup portion has a bottom panel integral with the sidewall. The interface of the bottom panel with the sidewall in the cup has a wall bead which is of the same outside configuration as the connection of the upper rim of the cup to the separate top panel. The bottom panel in the cup portion has a specific profile to withstand the internal pressures within the can during the recooking phase of the substance sealed within the can. The profile has a bottom bead which is closely adjacent the interface of the bottom panel with the sidewall and has a very tight radius between the sidewall and the bead to provide a strengthening rib for the prevention of buckling during the reheating phase.

  • Patent number: 3982573
Abstract: An elastic, fluid-impervious storage tank includes a pair of end tank sections and intermediate tank sections, the latter being provided an inlet or filler pipe. Each end section is formed from a single blank of a fiber-reinforced elastomer which is cut and folded so that the corner portions thereof are of rounded configuration.

  • Patent number: 3978901
Abstract: An elastic, fluid-impervious storage tank includes an outer tank member which is comprised of a pair of end tank sections and an intermediate tank section, the latter being provided with an inlet or filler pipe. Each end section is formed from a single blank of fiber-reinforced elastomer which is cut and folded so that the corner portions thereof are of rounded configuration. A flexible envelope formed of a film of chemical inert fluid-impervious plastic material is positioned interiorly of the outer tank member. The film envelope is slightly larger than the outer tank member and is folded with accordian pleats when it is inserted into the outer tank member so that it first unfolds transversely and then longitudinally as it is filled with a liquid.

  • Patent number: 3931657
Abstract: A personal flotation device includes front and rear panels secured together to form an aesthetically appealing life vest. The panels are provided with relatively thin sheets of buoyant material of sufficient buoyancy to cause a user to remain afloat while in the water. The vest is provided with an inflatable bladder which may be readily inflated to increase the buoyancy of the flotation vest. The flotation vest is also provided with a collar through which the bladder extends and serves to cause the user to float face-up when the bladder is inflated.
