  • Publication number: 20060199859
Abstract: New photodynamic, topically-applicable medicaments and certain medical uses of such photodynamic medicaments for treatment of human or animal tissue are described, wherein a primary active component of such medicaments is a halogenated xanthene. The halogenated xanthenes constitute a family of potent photosensitizers that become photoactivated upon illumination of the treatment site with visible wavelengths of light. In preferred embodiments, such medicaments are used for treatment of a variety of conditions affecting the skin and related organs; the mouth and digestive tract and related organs; the urinary and reproductive tracts and related organs; the respiratory tract and related organs; various other internal or external tissue surfaces, such as tissue surfaces exposed during surgery; and for treatment of a variety of conditions related to microbial or parasitic infection.

Date of Patent: March 24, 1981
    Assignee: Borg-Warner Corporation
    Inventor: Walter Fisher
  • Patent number: 4108290
Abstract: A controlled lock-up clutch interposed between the impeller and turbine in a torque converter of an automatic transmission for an automotive vehicle where the clutch lock-up and unlock is controlled at a torque converter speed ratio design point by the stator movement and loading. A lock-up clutch is actuated from a hydraulic source and controlled by a rotary valve that is actuated by a one-way overrunning clutch positioned between the stator of the torque converter and the rotary valve movable between two control positions.

  • Patent number: 4056940
Abstract: A trench shoring assembly including first and second spaced walls having upper surfaces with third and fourth spaced walls stacked upon the upper surfaces of the first and second walls. A plurality of tubular collars project from the various walls and are aligned vertically at each end thereof. Spreader pipes interconnect these collar projections at one end of the assembly and a spreader assembly interconnects the stacked walls at the other end. More specifically, the spreader assembly includes vertically extending metal beams interconnecting the collars projecting from the walls and tie bars extending between the vertical beams at a position spaced well above the upper surfaces of the lower walls thereby facilitating a pipe having a diameter which is greater than the vertical height of the lowermost walls.

  • Patent number: 3992887
Abstract: This invention relates to a trench shoring assembly which includes a pair of spaced apart side walls for vertical disposition within a trench. Spreader pipes and spreader collars interconnect the side walls and allow limited pivotal movement between the wide walls. Each side wall includes outer and inner metal plates connected to a plurality of interconnected structural members which define a main frame. The interconnected structural members include horizontally extending hollow metal beams including a top beam which extends longitudinally along the top of the side wall, two intermediate beams parallel the hollow metal beam and a bottom beam. A hardwood insert is disposed within the top beam to prevent the collapse of the hollow metal beam. Each side wall contains a number of hollow beams extending perpendicularly to the horizontal beams and ribbed members extending perpendicularly to the horizontal beams. These vertical beams and members are interconnected by a strip member.
