  • Publication number: 20100086638
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an animal feed or feed ingredient containing from about 0.01% to 1.0% DHA, wherein all, or substantially all of the DHA comes from material that is of non-animal origin and the use of microbially-derived DHA at these low levels provides sufficient DHA for the optimal neurological development of the animal.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 3, 2007
    Publication date: April 8, 2010
Inventors: David J. Kyle, John Piechocki, Emile Laurin, Walter G. Rakitsky
  • Patent number: 6241812
Abstract: Acid-stable and cationic-compatible reticulated bacterial cellulose compositions, containing co-agents and/or cationic surfactants, that are useful rheological modifying agents and stabilizing agents for suspensions, emulsions and foams, and their methods of preparation are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 5, 1999
Date of Patent: June 5, 2001
    Assignee: Pharmacia Corporation
Inventors: Barbara A. Smith, George T. Colegrove, Walter G. Rakitsky
  • Patent number: 5951910
Abstract: Rheologically modified compositions, and rheologically modified fluid compositions prepared therefrom, containing reticulated bacterial cellulose in a polyol base fluid, are disclosed. The amount of reticulated bacterial cellulose present in the composition is an amount effective to viscosify the polyol base fluid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 17, 1998
Date of Patent: September 14, 1999
    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: C. Bryan Skaggs, Thomas R. Sifferman, John M. Swazey, Harold D. Dial, Walter G. Rakitsky
  • Patent number: 5175277
Abstract: A rapidly hydrating welan gum useful for preparing cementitious products. The gum can be dry blended with cement or other dry component and then added to a preformed cement/water pre-mix, thereby alleviating the need for hydrating the gum prior to addition to a cement/water mixture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 20, 1991
Date of Patent: December 29, 1992
    Assignee: Merck & Co., Inc.
Inventors: Walter G. Rakitsky, Danny D. Richey
  • Patent number: 4810259
Abstract: A coal aqueous slurry having a lower viscosity and resistance to thickening with time is provided. The coal aqueous slurry includes water, particulate coal comprising carbonaceous material and water-soluble minerals, a surfactant present in the coal aqueous slurry in an amount sufficient to disperse the particulate coal in the water and a chelating agent. The included chelating agent is capable of forming a chelation complex with the metal ions formed by the water-soluble minerals dissolving into the water. The presence of the chelating, or complexing, agent reduces coagulation of the coal particles, because the chelating agent complexes soluble mineral matter and thereby prevents collapse of the protective water layer surrounding the coal particles.

Date of Patent: March 7, 1989
