  • Patent number: 5924078
Abstract: A computer-implemented discounting system suitable for use in conjunction with a point-of-sale transaction device. The discounting system includes a memory subsystem for storing information related to at least one promotion and a software module coupled to the memory subsystem. The software module receives promotional codes entered by consumers and determines if the promotional codes relate to the promotions for which information is stored in the memory subsystem. If so, the software module transmits discount information for the promotions related to the entered promotional codes to the point-of-sale transaction device. For each promotion, a promotional code, a promotion period, a product code, a discount amount, a promotional code count and a maximum number of promotional codes are stored in the memory subsystem.

  • Patent number: 5717866
Abstract: A method for comparative analysis of consumer response to product promotions which provide discounts during point-of-sale transactions. First and second promotional entries respectively related to first and second promotions for a product and each comprised of a promotional code and a discount are stored in a memory subsystem of a computer system. First and second counts of the total number of times the first and second promotional codes are received by the computer system are maintained in memory. Each time a consumer enters a promotional code on a keypad coupled to the computer system, the entered promotional code is compared to the first and second promotional codes. If the entered promotional code matches the fast promotional code, the first count stored is incremented by one and the first discount amount is transmitted to a point-of-sale transaction device coupled to the computer system.

  • Patent number: 4621325
Abstract: A method is provided for monitoring the receipt and stocking of batches of goods in a direct store delivery. A vendor enters a worksheet (22) via a wand scanner (12) where the vendor's information is stored in a computer (16). A store check-in sheet (32) is produced from the stored information. A receiving clerk audits the received goods and enters a clerk audit into the scanner (12). When the vendor and receiving clerk are satisfied with a store invoice (33) the goods are released from a location (34) for ultimate product stocking. Optional audits are provided by a management agent at a location (46) and by a security audit (50). These last audits can be entered via the scanner (12) to add to the information about the goods. Finally, management reports (64) are prepared which identify any discrepancies in the receipt and stocking of goods and indicate any trend for particular losses.
