Patent number: 9717654Abstract: An electronic pill box having a housing with a base and grid and into which a blister pack is selectively engaged. The blister pack includes a plurality of vials prefilled with medication and sealed with a cover imprinted with pertinent information. Each vial is received in a chamber in the base having an LED and a sensor for determining whether medication has been removed therefrom. The LED and sensor are operatively engaged with a microprocessor including programming for dispensing medication from the pill box. An alert is issued if medication is not removed from an illuminated vial after a predetermined time interval. When all medication has been dispensed therefrom, the blister pack is replaced with another prefilled blister pack A card with patient information thereon may be provided on the prefilled blister pack and is detached and stored in the housing prior to loading the blister pack therein.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2015Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Next Paradigm Inc.Inventors: Robert G. Patent number: 9717655Abstract: An electronic pill box for receiving a blister pack having a plurality of dosettes pre-loaded with doses of medication. The pill box includes a base module having a plurality of receptacles that receive the dosettes of the blister pack. The number of receptacles is sufficient to hold about a month of medication. A day module is engaged with the base module but is detachable therefrom. Individual dosettes are detached from the blister pack and loaded into receptacles in the day module. The base module and day module include capacitance sensors for determining if a dose of medication has been removed at the required time. The day module also includes a light sensor assembly that verifies whether the dosettes loaded into the day module's receptacles are the correct dosettes for the time of day a particular dose of medication should be taken.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2016Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Next Paradigm Inc.Inventors: Edward Nova, Ajay Majithia, Ami Majithia, Robert G. Patent number: 9311452Abstract: A medication reminder and compliance system including a pill box, a pill box and electronic device; or a pill box, electronic device and remote server. The pill box includes several detachable dosettes, each divided into several chambers having a door. A two-color LED is disposed beneath each chamber and is activated when a specific reminder time is reached. The LED initially illuminates the associated chamber with a green light but changes to a flashing red light if the door is not opened within a preset time. A switch engaged with the door deactivates the LED when the door is opened. The electronic device communicates with the pill box and alerts the patient when it is time to take medication. A remote server which communicates with both the pill box and electronic device can be programmed to control the reminder schedule and monitor the patient's compliance with a prescribed medication regimen.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2013Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: Next Paradigm Inc.Inventors: Robert G. Publication number: 20130291889Abstract: A floss pick including a body with a handle and a head having a length of floss therein. The handle defines an aperture with a toothpick member disposed therein. The toothpick member is connected to the handle by first and second bridge members. In a first instance, the bridge members are broken to detach the toothpick member. In a second instance, the bridge members are twisted to pivot the toothpick member from a nonuse position to a use position where it is disposed at an angle relative to the body. The toothpick member is pivoted by engaging a terminal end thereof with an index finger of the hand in which the body is held. The angle of the toothpick member relative to the body is adjusted using the index finger to permit picking of the teeth in any region of the user's mouth without changing hands.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2013Publication date: November 7, 2013Inventors: Walter Prokopchuk, Robert G. Dickie

Patent number: 8375961Abstract: A floss pick including a body with a handle and a head. The head has first and second arms defining a cavity between them, and a length of dental floss extending between the arms and across the cavity. Preferably, the handle is oval in shape for easier grasping by the user. The body includes a toothpick member that preferably is disposed on the head and extends outwardly from one of the first and second arms into the cavity. The floss extends between the other of the first and second arms and the toothpick member and during use guides the toothpick member into interproximal spaces between teeth. Alternatively, a toothpick member may be provided in a recessed region of the handle and extend forwardly toward the head. The latter toothpick member is able to be detached from the handle for separate use.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2010Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Inventors: Walter Prokopchuk, Robert G. Dickie
