  • Publication number: 20170328178
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for identifying opportunities for improvement in drilling and completions operations. At least one processor receives historical well data related to drilling and completions activities received from well monitoring sensors. The activities can include tripping, running casing, running bottom hole assembly, running riser, drilling connection operations, running screens, and running tubing. From the historical data, relative percentages of time spent on the activities are determined. Based on the relative time spent on each of the activities, a first priority activity is selected for improvement. A performance target for the first priority activity representing a value that can be calculated using well data received from the well monitoring sensors is determined. Real-time data is received from the well monitoring sensors. A current performance value using the real-time data is calculated and reviewed periodically to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Publication number: 20150218888
Abstract: Embodiments of a geosteering system, method of operation, and associated media are disclosed. The system includes a computing system at a facility remote from at least one rig site. The computing system includes at least one processor and computer storage medium comprising computer-executable instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause performance of a method of remotely controlling steering of a drilling process at the at least one rig site. The method includes receiving a data stream from the at least one rig site, the data stream including subsurface drilling data and directional survey data. The method also includes receiving, from a user, guidance regarding directional steering of a drilling apparatus at the at least one remote rig site. The method also includes communicating the guidance to the at least one rig site via a realtime communications connection.

  • Patent number: 4733551
Abstract: A pipe expander head and pipe expander is disclosed which comprises a housing 30, in which a pin 50 is mounted. The pin 50 has a tapered end 54 and is provided with a plurality of teeth 60. The teeth 60 mesh with a gear assembly 62, 66 and 68 which in turn are coupled to a handle 72. Upon rotation of the handle 72 the gear assembly 62, 66 and 68 is rotated to drive the pin to expand an expander head. The expander head includes a plurality of segments 39, 41, 43, 45, 47 and 49 which are coupled together with a circular spring 96. The expander head segments each include annular stepped expanding portions 72, 74, 76 and 78 and the stepped portions are provided with recesses 80 for accommodating a work piece to be expanded.
