  • Patent number: 7072056
Abstract: A digital information translation and sending device is provided for sending data to a targeted destination device. The translation and sending device includes a sending device and a gateway device. The sending device includes memory and a communication port. The communication port is operative to send digital data in a first data format compatible with the sending device via a first communications protocol. The gateway device includes processing circuitry, memory, and a communication port. The communication port and processing circuitry are operative to convert the digital data from the first data format to a second data format that is compatible with a destination device and sends the data using a second communications protocol. A method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6591312
Abstract: Digital communication devices and digital communication methods are provided. In one aspect of the invention, a digital communication device includes storage circuitry; communication circuitry coupled with the storage circuitry and configured to communicate digital data and a plurality of digital formats externally of the digital communication device; and processing circuitry coupled with the communication circuitry and configured to operate in a receive mode and a send mode, wherein in the receive mode the processing circuitry is configured to select one of the data formats and in the send mode the processing circuitry is configured to send data formats which correspond to digital data stored within the storage circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6248996
Abstract: A method for transmitting data contained in a document between a scanning device and a plurality of heterogeneous receiver destinations, each respective receiver destination being capable of receiving scanned information in a specific data form, is set forth. In a first step, a plurality of heterogeneous receiver destinations are selected. Next, an acceptable data form for each receiver destination is determined. The document is then scanned once to convert the document into electronic data. The electronic data is then used to create a respective electronic data file for each receiver destination, each file converted to a data form appropriate to its corresponding receiver destination. The electronic data files are then transmitted to their respective receiver destinations. In a system including a scanning device connected to at least one receiver capable of receiving scanned information as electronic files, a scanning device transmission arrangement is also set forth.
