    Abstract: One aspect described in the present disclosure provides a faceplate for a computing system. The faceplate includes a die-cast metallic frame and a sheet-metal front face attached to the die cast metallic frame. The die-cast metallic frame includes at least one attachment mechanism protruding beyond the sheet-metal front face for attaching a handle used for insertion or ejection of hardware attached to the faceplate. This configuration allows the die-cast metallic frame to bear a force associated with insertion or ejection of the hardware. Furthermore, the sheet-metal front face does not bear the force associated with insertion or ejection of the hardware.

    Abstract: One aspect provides an apparatus for locking circuit boards in position between a pair of guide rails. The apparatus can include a slider attached to a sidewall of one guide rail. The slider is allowed to slide along the guide rail within a predetermined range and one or more plunger-and-spring assemblies. A respective plunger-and-spring assembly comprises a plunger and a spring surrounding the plunger, and the plunger is inserted into a through-hole on the sidewall of the guide rail such that a first end of the plunger can be aligned with a notch on a corresponding circuit board and a second end of the plunger is in contact with the slider. Sliding of the slider causes the spring to compress and decompress and the first end of the plunger to move in and out of the notch on the circuit board, thereby facilitating locking and unlocking of the circuit board.

The apparatus can include a cam latch, a plunger, and a hinge pin coupling the cam latch and the plunger. The cam latch is positioned to rotate around the hinge pin, and the rotation of the cam latch causes a linear motion of the plunger in a plane parallel to a component-mounting surface of the circuit board, thereby facilitating locking and unlocking of the circuit board.

The bracket is to attach to the pair of rails when: the first portion is placed against the ends of the rails such that the first tab is inserted into the first opening and the second tab is inserted into the second opening; and the bracket is slid down such that the first opening rests in the first notch and the second opening rests in the second notch.
