Abstract: A device, method and system for voting are disclosed herein. The exemplary voting device may be comprised of a paper ballot unique to each voter, an ink pen which also houses an optical scanning device, multiple redundant electronic storage media devices whereupon cast votes and other information are recorded, and a voting management system used by voters to validate their selections and by poll workers and election judges to authenticate the ballot and resolve voting booth issues such as spoiled ballots. The device may facilitate the casting of votes and ensure their secure and accurate tallying.

Abstract: A set of pieces facilitates the playing of a modified form of chess in which the captor of a piece can return that piece to the board as the captor's own. The set comprises two subsets of pieces, each piece having an upright stem having a shape which denotes the piece's denomination and a direction indicator which denotes the ownership of the piece.
